The thing you people forget is that countries desired to join NATO and did so because of Russia's historical tendencies. Countries like Poland and Czechia wanted so much to join NATO that their leaders basically threatened to travel to the US and campaign for the Republican Party to their respective diasporas, to pressure Bill Clinton and the US government, which was AGAINST the integration of these countries into NATO. Ask yourselves why these countries wanted to join NATO. Why? Because Russia and eventually the USSR would force these states to join it directly or as puppets, and these countries were violently oppressed for decades, or in the case of Poland, over a century. Russia even had the opportunity to integrate with the West and join it. Why did they refuse?
