Thank you so much for selecting this topic. I think every first generation mallu parents should watch this. They won't realize the pressure these kids go through when they are in school. The extent of bullying these second generation kids experience in the school is unbelievable. Our parents consciously or unconsciouly make their life miserable. For these second generation immigrant kids their school life is about finding a balance between being a " Nalla കുട്ടി " in their home and among mallu community and being accepted among his/her peers. A lot mallu kids have two social media accounts, one in which they add all the family and church members and another in which they add their friends. This is true especially for girls. First generation parents should realize that these kids won't go back to Kerala one day and live their life their, especially the kids who were born in US and and other western countries. This is their country and their culture. No point in infusing them with a different culture and make them a misfit in the country in which they very well gonna spend their entire life. I am not saying that US or Western culture is better than Indian culture. It is the choice parents made when they decided to bring this kids to these countries. So why make their life miserable by asking them follow a culture very alien to them. I have seen many kids end up in depression and with other debilitating mental health issues because of the stress they have to go through in their lives just because they were born to immigrant parents. I think it's just the same with every immigrant family here. Thank you again for taking time and effort to do this video. And stay safe in New York.

I think people in kerala are more open minded than some of the parents here. They are still stuck in the mindset from years ago when they first came to US or other countries. New gen kids are smart, honest and straight forward unlike the old generation, as you said putting on a fake mask and that creates conflict. New gen kids do appreciate and embrace their culture as they discover it own their way. Some discover and appreciate it early if their parents and their community are more truthful and genuine. That's the difference i suppose. Of course their is always outliers. Nice video
