The 3 Link suspension on the Jeep is finished, painted and assembled in this video. Finally back out on the road and ready to test out on some adventures. Its running better than I thought It would and its been a very involved project from start to finish. I took on a bit to much this time chopping up the dana 30 and dialing it in along with this suspension project. I'm glad its all finished. I will need two duel rate coils up front in the long run but until then I time to get out and do some winter adventures.
Thanks for watching,
Mike

currie, metal cloak, and skyjacker all make coils that have a soft section at the top to help keep them seated with a longer overall length. I would say for now just setup a limiting strap to keep them from unseating

I love your projects. I've been following your channel for a long time. I like the content of Jeep modifications combined with bushcraft and trips. About 4 years ago, when I bought my own Cherokee, I started following your work. You are one of the people who motivated me to build my own project. The XJ is a great car. Thank you for these videos :) Greetings from Poland👋

Painting axle shaft splines. That's a first I think lol. Also as mentioned, limiting straps might be the shortcut and miles cheaper to replacing the lift components in the near term.

Wow, Mike, what a labor of love! This build came out fantasic! You have to be extremely proud of the work and problem solving that went into getting it to where it is today. The reality is that once you start a journey of modifications, there always seems that there is a bit more that can be done. I am sure you are up to the challenge though. Looking forward to seeing how this performs moving forward, as well as your next adventure!

The Metal Cloak stuff is real good. I've had their lift on my JK since 2015 with zero problems. Their customer service is literally second to none as well. Absolutely top notch company. I have two friends that use their coils in the front of their XJ's. One is super heavy so he should have ordered one size taller. The others is perfect. A friend and I built a 4 door truck (before the gladiator) that used their springs. This thing ended up being over 7,000 pounds. We broke a rear Metal Cloak coil and they refused to take money for a replacement. We explained what vehicle it was on, and that the springs were WAY overloaded. We sent pictures showing that their springs were being abused and they still refused money. Absolutely top notch company.

Amazing work as always Mike. Your creativity on building your rear driveshaft with what you have to hand is brilliant. It’s like you have passed your final exams. And now anything is possible as a fabricator! In regards to new shocks Mike. Bilstein 5100 are amazing for what they cost. Im very happy with mine. But I know availability and shipping is a huge factor for where you live. Im at the same point as you currently Mike. Burnt out working on the heep. Need to get out and drive it!And remind me why all the late nights in the garage are worth it. Looking forward to the next video 👊

Despite what people say about the D30, when beefed up like you've done, it's an excellent axel. I don't listen to what people say about them, mine has served me well. Unless you do aggressive rock crawling its a good axel.

Swaybar is made by this guy kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y6yhlLlmyc6yc3k.htmlsi=YxaWxa72m0IYCnTw His contact details are in the description. Skyjacker ship here but I heard the coils are soft. I wouldn't mind something stiffer to help balance out the rear leafs. Not sure really

Limit straps but if you need shocks and the springs alignment is a problem have you looked at ori struts?
@WorkshoptoWilderness
@WorkshoptoWilderness 5 ай бұрын
So far the shocks don't allow full flex but that's obviously death to the shocks eventually. I'm building some straps, just need to mount them. Eventually I think I will use duel rate springs. ORI's would be the way, I will see what I can do but those things are expensive I think. Thanks for watching and the info.

I also have a Jeep XJ 2.5 TDI, but I'm a little tired of the manual transmission, and I thought if it would be possible to put the automatic transmission on the WJ 3.1, the only difference between them being the extra cylinder.
