I definitely agree and thank Hyram for introducing me to skincare but, in my opinion, Hyram sometimes over-exaggerates a lot of skincare ingredients, which is just fear mongering, for example fragrance, which most people don't really have a problem with especially if it's at the bottom of the ingredient list. Also denatured alcohol and organic (chemical) sunscreen filters are not bad at all, especially European filters. When i started watching him i avoided those ingredients at all costs and, dare i say, was scared of them and thought they were dangerous. After doing proper research i learned that they were completely safe to use and now i love these ingredients.

@@madreviolo I agree, Hyram helped me get started, but now I know enough about skincare to have my own philosophy towards it and certain ingredients, and I barely watch him anymore since his recommendations don't really match my preferences. Is it alright if I ask what type of skin you have? I feel like I have sensitive/dry skin, so less is definitely more for me. Even washing my face twice a day with a hydrating cleanser (Cera Ve) I feel like does a tad much, especially having to hydrate/moisturize each time.
@katrinam625

@@anyadarlingg My skin is combination but more so on the oily side. When my skin feels dry and need rehydration during winter (at night), I use Farmacy cleansing balm and/or Cerave Hydrating Facial cleanser (another great option: Krave Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser) Right after a shower, when my pores are still open, I use Klairs Supple preparation Unscented toner, The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid (I spritz my face with water afterward). Let that absorb, then The Ordinary Buffet and last, I apply my mosturizer. I've learned so much from Hyram! He's amazing!

I have super oily, acne-prone skin so I haaaaate reapplying any SPF (cream, lotion, liquid, milk, etc). Sunscreen powders are better than nothing at all. But Hyram's right, it's really hard to clean the brush (which sucks for acne). BUT a hack is to buy a sunscreen powder refill (I like Brush on Block; the refill is even cheaper than the original product), and then pour the refill powder into a compact. Then use a separate small brush or puff to apply it! And then it's super easy to wash the applicator. Saves money and more hygenic.

Great that you revisit! Not only are there more studies done in time and preexisting information you might have learned about, but companies change formulas sometimes. This especially happens with makeup I have noticed when a brand gets brought under a different umbrella company. Without noticing, a product you swear by can be changed and still on your re-stock list so its good to keep updated :).

2 years ago, after binge watching your videos, I ordered the First Aid Beauty Coconut Water Cream and WOW! I love it so much! I use it up to this day! It´s the only moisturizer my skin can handle in the german summer. I usally use it year round. In autumn/winter I use Great Barrier Relief with Coconut Water Cream and then Biossance Squalane + Omega Repair Cream. In spring and on not too hot summer days I use it without the Biossance one and only in really, really hot and humid summer days I only use the Great Barrier Relief. Unfortunately my mental healt doesn´t allow me a twice a day skincare yet, but when I have the energy to have one I absolutely love it. Thank you for all the great recommendations and here´s hoping to better mental health, yay!

I’ve enjoyed the couple First Aid Beauty products I’ve tried. I’ll have to check out that moisturizer. I’m a toner girl for sure but I sort of think of the products in my skincare ritual in two ways: efficacy and pampering. My cleansers and toners I’m in it more for the smell and experience, pampering; my serums and sunscreen are all about efficacy and ingredients with real tested benefits; my moisturizer is a little bit of both ( I like ceramides, peptides, hyaluronic acid and that sorta thing but also a luxurious texture and scent). If I’m in a pinch I can just use my efficacious products and skip frou frou toner and whatnot, but if I really have the time to make it an experience…I’m getting out the candles, thermal water, masks, and pretty quartz rollers, even if it’s just to enhance my mood.

Cleansers like that can actually make people with oily skin produce even more oil. Because when you strip all of your oil away, your skin reacts by producing more. It becomes a cycle of stripping, becoming more oily, and on and on. If people do want that “bulldoze” feeling, maybe make it a once a week thing instead of every day EDIT: I’ve been proven wrong here 😁 thanks to the people who responded to this comment; this is a myth! I still can’t imagine using harsh cleansers is a great habit, but it appears it doesn’t effect oil production.

my dermatologist says thats not actually true. oil production is determined by hormones and genetics only
@Julie-ik9cr
@Julie-ik9cr Жыл бұрын
@@blue_satin_sashes Yeah, obviously this is anecdotal, but my personal experience has pretty much confirmed to me that this is a myth. I've always had very oily skin on my face, so when I started getting into skincare a few years ago, I bought into the myth heavily because so many people were saying "Your skin will produce less oil if you use more hydrating products!" So I started using a gentle cleanser, a hydrating toner, a hydrating serum, and a basic light weight moisturizer. And guess what? My face is still pretty damn oily. Now, I still use those hydrating products every day because my skin actually *was* dehydrated, and they make it so that my skin no longer feels tight throughout the day. But they had very little, if any, effect on how much oil my skin produces. It's a very widespread sentiment, and I wish I hadn't spent years stressing out, wondering what I was doing wrong or how I could possibly hydrate my skin any further to make it less oily. (Oddly, the skin on the rest of my body tends to be dry, but I guess bodies are complicated sometimes lol)
@KG9551
@KG9551 Жыл бұрын
@@Julie-ik9cr I’m not saying if you use moisturizing products instead of stripping products that your skin won’t be oily anymore, only that if you strip your skin to the point of dryness, it *may* result in more oil production. Of course, I could still be wrong on that, I just wanted to be clear on what I was trying to say 😁

Hyram is an absolute life saver when it comes to skin care. This is totally unrelated to this video but my mother used to buy me cheap products that are very bad for my skin because of the way they would dry it out, and I would almost never have access to good hydration products and serums after my cleansers. The St. Ives apricot scrub is one of the products I've used and sadly continue to use to this day. However, after binging Hyram's videos today and learning new things about how to take better care of my skin, I've learned that St. Ives isn't what I should be using AT ALL. I've slowly started to stray away from the product and just recently, over the Christmas holiday, I spent nearly $400 on skin care products based off of Hyram and other beauty bloggers recommendations. I have not tested them out and I have yet to learn what is best for my skin, but that is exactly why I am here on his channel. I can only be grateful for his guidance in healthy skin care and I hope for the best 🙏💕😊

Even little things like not using cotton balls for not wasting product... the more you do something the more of an expert you become and this helps show people that. Life is about learning and growing in anything that you do. ✨️

Many years ago (like 11?) Highschool me regrets recommending that Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Acne scrub to literally every one of my girl friends with acne or uneven texture. Apparently a lot of them got bad reactions from it because it was too aggressive for them and the huge quantity of the unnecessary sensorial additives sensitized them and inflamed their acne. I don’t know why I was such an outlier _(maybe because my skin has always been thick and resilient as hell)_ but the exfoliating granules felt nice on my skin, it absorbed the excess sebum on my face _(the lightening/fade cream I used had enough humectants + emollients where my skin didn’t dehydrate),_ the lovely fruity scent had me feeling more mentally energized and awake in the morning, it made my skin soft to the touch, and it did seem to help me not break out as severely. Despite it having “bad” ingredients and I wouldn’t recommend it to someone with skin issues today - I’ll still always have a soft spot for it because it was the first face wash I actually enjoyed using

fab coconut water cream is THE old reliable for me, i’m struggling with my products at the moments so i’m about to pick her up. the only problem for me at the moment is the price point, however i can snap her up on sale right now and with that further sephora discount 😌

Hi, I was wondering if it’s okay to have one of those ten step Korean skincare routines and use it regularly. I find things like this very enjoyable and relaxing, it’s like a little personal spa every night :) but I don’t want to have one of these long routines if it damages my skin.
@nothingnothing6036
@nothingnothing6036 Жыл бұрын
It depends on type of skin you have. For those people who have highly sensitive skin (like me😭), those ten step Korean skincare are not good for them. I can only do 5 step skincare routine because my skin will break out and itchy when I use too much products.

If you like it, do it! I still do something akin to the 7-skin method because my skin loves it! It's become trendy to have to have a minimalist skincare routine, but, like you, I also do skin care for the personal enjoyment of it! Use as many products as your skin likes.
