The first snow in over a year at the Tiny House to start a snowy winter season. We went for a walk in the beautiful snow...and then headed back to the tiny house to warm up by the wood stove. Then we spent the night in the house making potatoes on the wood stove oven and Kombucha. #woodstove #tinyhouse #winter

We are just a normal couple living a rather unusual lifestyle in a Tiny House on Wheels (192 square feet) trying to fit more adventure, travel and exploration into our lives! We love to go camping, hiking, backpacking, kayaking…and traveling with our 16 foot Scamp Trailer. We have an awesome Adventure dog named Redford that is up for anything. Come with us as we Let New Adventures Begin!

Love your tiny house! We’re lost in our four-bedroom house now that the kids have all moved out. The fire bricks are amazing. We use them a lot in our fireplace insert. So much easier to lug them up from the basement then cord wood. Always look forward to your videos.

it is interesting how the space we live in can change the dynamics in a relationship- different stressors. If we weren't in the tiny house the last 3 years would have been very rough on us financially & Im sure tensions would have been high!

Love the Coziness! Can you guys recommend a Car Camping spot in NJ ? we're just getting into it. Thanks!
@LetNewAdventuresBegin
@LetNewAdventuresBegin 3 жыл бұрын
Our favorite place to car camp in NJ is at the Delaware Water Gap- Worthington State forest. You can get a site on the water and there are awesome hikes in the area...but it is not dog friendly unfortunately. Stokes state forest is also really nice if you are in northern NJ. In Central Jersey Allaire State park is a fun stop by Asbury Park and in south jersey we like the back country sites of Wharton State park- some are drive in. 👍

What kind of insulation does your house have?
@LetNewAdventuresBegin

normal fiberglass insulation with steel framing (which has some interesting challenges) but overall the insulation holds heat overnight when we let the wood stove die out

How cold does it get there? We’re in Canada it’s got to -10 so far and we have the same stove. It’s not keeping us warm enough so far.
@LetNewAdventuresBegin
@LetNewAdventuresBegin Жыл бұрын
we had our coldest night in 7 years this past December around 8 degrees F not counting wind chill. We put up all our insulating blinds and reflectex over the windows- insulation is super important. It was the first time I stayed up to feed the stove over night because our extra electric heater was not enough & we were concerned about pipes freezing (been there before 🙈) but overall once we have the stove going for a few hours it can be 85' F in the loft & we have to open windows before going to bed. We have really improved our insulation over the years to retain as much heat as possible and that makes a big difference over night- its the result of 7 years of trial & error and some really rough winters
@hopestinytemple
@hopestinytemple Жыл бұрын
@@LetNewAdventuresBegin Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I think we need to invest in more insulation (we have 2" spray foam on all external walls, floor and ceiling currently). We're also installing a propane furnace as a secondary heating option as the floor is a little cold for our toddler to play. Our stove is about 5.5 off the ground.

I live in newfoundland and we get a ton of wind, rain and snow. I love the idea of a tiny house but I always wonder "where do you store off season clothes. Currently in a decent sized split level with a horrible layout and I struggle to find space for storage(old home with small closets and I know many things would go but warmer clothes was always a concern. There aren't many videos where they address this if any at all. It's just my 8 year old, my wife and myself. Seems like I would need a shed but that seems counter intuitive.
@LetNewAdventuresBegin
@LetNewAdventuresBegin 2 жыл бұрын
it is tricky storing bulky winter things. It doesnt get super cold here compared to some more northern areas so we get away with having one good down jacket and a raincoat with the usual hat/gloves scarf. We have a fairly minimal wardrobe that we layer during the seasons & the loft above the bathroom is our storage area for off season stuff. Many people build a staircase to use the underside for storage- we may do that one day, but for now we enjoy the open floor plan. It takes some creativity adjusting to no closets!

🤷🏼‍♀️ I know you love your dog but love him even better by buying him a small child sweater from the Red Cross or flea market, that will fit a 7 year old kid so when he goes outside he won't be freezing. That dog does not have that much of a coating of hair and I know you think he happy but he' only happy to follow his Masters but trust you me he is uncomfortably cold. That's that's why he came straight to the kitchen he was so cold even for you and you all have all those coats and sweaters on.
@LetNewAdventuresBegin
@LetNewAdventuresBegin Жыл бұрын
another sweater would be a good idea! his new coat increased his time outside from about 3 minutes to 15 minutes 😍 but no worries about Red making his needs known - he is a VERY vocal & opinionated dog (pitties ❤️) if he wants something he lets us know 🐶
