Post2Post should have a contest for PWHL concept keep the cities and colors but change team names and create logos for each team. Ur contests are the best.

No team names for season one makes sense. You have to remember that branding takes time, the Seattle Kraken's identity took a total of 5 years to come up with. It's quite clear that they should just use historic names from the cities.

The jerseys got edited and are a bit different now. MN in particular is more purple and imo looks great on ice. Hoping they go for Minnesota Rain/Reign for team name

People need to realize that these jerseys are placeholders for the first season. They didn’t have enough time to thoughtfully think out each team name and logo. Not to mention the licensing, copyrights and filing for all that. Everyone needs to chill and stop talking shit about their jerseys.

I agree with everything you said. These uniforms as placeholders will do fine, but permanent colors and team names need to be entirely different. And please, no basic clipart logos!

That "navy/black/dark gray" is actually called "Storm" and the team names were actually hated so next year, all Original 6 PWHL teams are getting their names. Also this new league is the revived league of the former National Women's Hockey League/ Premiere Hockey Federation (NWHL/PHF). Where the Metropolitan Riveters, Connecticut Whale, Boston Pride, Buffalo Beauts, Toronto 6, Minnesota Whitecaps and Montreal Force formerly existed

they shuld have kept the names that they used before the new league was formed. Boston Pride was a great name.

Everyone's hating on the generic jerseys, but I'm guessing it's because they had designs and branding for the names they had trademarked in already progress, then they got such a negative response when the team names were leaked that they decided to drop them (which was a good decision, IMO). And unfortunately they had already committed at that time to starting the league in January (I believe it was mentioned in something I read that it's in the PWHLPA CBA) so they had to fall back to the generic jerseys just to make sure they would have something ready in time for the start of the season. I really hope the league reconsiders discarding all the NWHL/PHF branding (assuming their buyout of the league includes the branding) as many fans have a connection with the previous names. It's not like anyone is gonna be like, "oh the PHF was awful so I'm not gonna support ." Like if you know enough to know the issues with the PHF, you're gonna know that this is a new league. Or at least let the fans vote on what name to use and give an option of the PHF team name.

Had been wondering for a while if you were going to take a look at these, and I'm happy to see your takes on it. Honestly, your take on the colors along has encapsulated my 'qualms' (to use a fancy word) of the shoot. The Boston dark green is really dark, and that is actually a very light grey as the third color and the Boston away jersey is too white - they juxtapose the white with the light grey which really washes out any color and makes the dark green look more black (Boston area fan so hence all the Boston comments). I agree with the NY jersey - that coloring is bright, it pops, and the NY away is the best jersey of the lot - second is the Minnesota home. And yes - all the name ideas that leaked are not good, but supposedly they are being reviewed (and hopefully nixed). It's definitely a rough start for this new league... There's a lot of work to be done. (I miss the PHF Boston Pride branding - would have been interesting to know your thoughts on those jerseys...)

Here’s my thoughts on a colour tweak, and some names: Montreal Attack/Attaque (need something that works in both languages), the colours are ok. Toronto Thunder, they’re colours are ok too. Ottawa Rebellion, make the red brighter (like the Canes jersey in the background of the vid). New York Sounders, their colours are ok. Minnesota Comets (or maybe Meteors, I’m getting a North stars vibe), they need some yellow in there as a either a second colour or a strong accent. Boston Pride, how about black and emerald green.

I feel like everyone is so used to things having just "existed" within their lifetimes that a lot of people can't comprehend when something "starts" in a sense. Like you said, branding takes time and is something that isn't one and done. It's constantly updating. Hell, how many teams in the early days of the NHL or NHA had something similar to put (town) name on sweater and add stripes? If these were permanent, then I'd probably worry more about the league, but seeing as how these are placeholders, I'm not so torn up about how they look. Also, as a side note, I dig the colors and the arrangement of the Minnesota home jersey. On the 2d graphics, the primary color looked more purple, so maybe it's just the lighting making it look blue, but I genuinely hope they keep the color scheme when they officially "re-brand."

I like this new league a lot I have a cousin that plays in this league and is been super exciting to watch her play with this amazing talent around her. I also have already been to a pwhl ottawa game and it was very entertaining the crowd was super into it. I hope that there will be better branding for teams with logos and jerseys for next season maybe even some mascots but i do hope that some teams keep the jersey that they have right now as like a alternate jersey kind of like they do in the Nhl. I also like how they are letting the girls play physically I've already seen some big hits they would usually call in the past that they are not letting slide but so far the officiating has also been pretty good from the first three games it's been pretty consistent I'll for sure be out to more games and following this league.

In my opinion here’s what I would name each teams based off the jerseys. For Boston, the Boston Shamrocks. For Toronto, the Toronto Polar Ice. For New York, the New York Breakers. For Montreal, the Montreal Voyageurs. For Ottawa, the Ottawa Aeros. And for Minnesota, the Minnesota Pumas

Not just the names but what are the logos gonna look like if they went with those names what kind of logos do you have for them that's where I don't get it of all those you could maybe come up with 2 logos that might make sense I mean a torch you can at least visualize and for minnesota what do you do an outline of lake superior with the name in the middle i just don't know but what logo would be for alert sound and echo what logos could be done for those none that I currently know of or could think of I gotta think this won't end up being the names in the end

Yeah that New York and Toronto colors are too bright. Gotta tone the saturation down a bit. Also this league has the very cool ability to have team names that are literally not applicable to a men’s team, like Queens or Tigresses. I think the Toronto team being called the Tigresses would be cool because they could maybe throw it back to the Hamilton Tigers.

I remember watching the Bridgeport sound tigers, I remember thinking what is a sound tiger until I learned it was actually Bridgeport sound, the same way its Owen sound.

Owen Sound is a place in Ontario and the team is called Owen Sound Attack in the OHL. As for as Toronto Torch, I would have thought Torch worked better for New York cuz of the Statute of Liberty.

As a Ottawa fan love to see them called the Ottawa Rivers or the Ottawa Rideaus which are both local rivers to Ottawa , or the Capitals or Caps for short , or with the red jerseys maybe the Ottawa Cardinals or the Grey Jays which are both local birds to the Ottawa Valley. Or for Ottawa the White Tails after the white tailed deer that are so abundant in the Ottawa Valley. As for Montreal bring back the Montreal Maroons name which would be a natural fit for there jersey colour or the Montreal Victorias . As for Toronto how about the Great Lakes or something along those lines or bring back the ST.Pats or the Toronto Royals.

I would keep the Minnesota Superior and Boston Wicked. But my team names would change are... Toronto Towers Montréal Saints Ottawa Tulips🌷 New York Queens or Sounders.

I am so excited for this PWHL. I watched a few games. Super slow pace but they were definitely playing physical. I can't wait to see this league grow. It's so hard for my mind to see different colors (like the green for Boston vs the black and yellow the city knows from the NHL). As someone who is born and raised in Pittsburgh... something that was always amazing is the unified colors between all our sports. Black and gold no matter what and it really gave a sense of community and support for the city as a whole. I'd love to see these teams do the same thing when applicable but... I guess playing devil's advocate this gives them a bit of a more unique identity... It would just truly almost feel like betrayal if Pittsburgh was lucky enough to get a PWHL team and them not be black and gold haha. Totally understand the temporary jerseys and I agree with everything you said. Also these team names are god awful. I hope none of them come to fruition.

Buffalo had a team in the old league. The New York use to be the rivoters. Minnesota wave, Boston pride, Toronto six. Those are the names in the old league would sound better. Hartford also had a team.

If the team names are correct, it's interesting that none of the team names are plurals that end in "s" (i.e. Ducks vs Avalanche).

The Toronto jersey is what the Lightning should look like, but with the Lightning crest on the front.

They should just use the existing colors of their NHL counterparts. The familiarity would help a new league. And I'd go with simple traditional names/logos that suggest a rich history where none exists. Minnesota Stars, Montreal HC (hockey club), etc.

Actually the Boston Wicked, I like. I think when you think about New England and Massachusetts, you also think about Salem and the witch trial. They could have some badass witchcraft style logo, which is also a way to empower themselves while at the same time mock the misogyny of the era. And "wicked " is a common word in the area for "awesome". I think there is potential.

The early years of the NHA and NHL were a mess as well. As with all new things, there will always be things to iron out.

The names suck. I would think "Torch" would at least be New York for the Statue of Liberty. I would go with "Red Foxes". Toronto has options like "Loons" or "Trilium", why they wouldn't capitalize is beyond me. Boston is on the right track but I would go with "Coven" or even my second pick "Mayflowers". "Superior" is not horrible for Minnesota but I would go with something like "North Stars" or "Monarchs". Ottawa is horrendous, I would go with something like "Towers" or "Senatrix" (easy, obvious but better than Alert). Montreal, I would go with something like "Fleurries" (as a pun of the French "Fleur") or "Saints", "White Pines". New York Red Foxes. Toronto Loons. Boston Coven. Minnesota Monarchs. Ottawa Senatrix. Montreal White Pines.

Most of the team colours are very blah except for New York and Toronto going with some vibrant blue/teal. Maybe they need to figure out some strong team names and match the colour palettes from there. None of those rumoured names are appealing. Reach out to the public and let them help with team names.

Idk what you expected for women’s team names because it’s very similar style of names to the WNBA, this league has been pretty bad marketing, name decision design logos, and everything else, and even scheduling of they’re games 1st January is winter classic day. Even not having the jerseys and colours until now after the draft.

Yea a bad look to start off with. Those names have to go and I can see just putting something out there but this? No thought to it at all and one thing also with the jersey's is who stitched the names on? It looks horrible pulling the fabric like that. They need to step this up.

There is an expression in French Quebecer called Grosse Torche litterally means Big torch but it's means a fat ugly Classless woman. So i actually appailled all team to restrained of the use the word torch in their team name.

Man, I want more women’s league to be successful. NWSL and WNBA are fun to watch, and are under rated. But for this league, these names and jerseys aren’t selling. I’ll still wait until after the first season finishes to have a more informed opinion. I do hope that in the future either LA or Orange County gets a team. Hope the PWHL succeeds.

These jerseys are an affront to style. If you want a league for young girls to get excited about you need to do better. These are drab, dull, and boring. They need bright fun colours. Get experimental with it.

My honest opinion about these jerseys, it's boring, and generic at the beginning. In 5 year's time, the colors, and logos can change to be more unique to the team. Same with uniformity with the jersey colors. Same the names. That's what I like about North American sports: an identity based on culture in that city.

This whole league seems like it's being run out of the back of a car in a walmart parking lot. I heard, whether true or not, the reason why everything seems rushed and disorganized was because of the players. The players said they didn't want to miss out on an entire season of playing. But why release a half azz product. They know they are going to be fighting an up-hill battle with regards to acceptance. Why not take the time and release the best possible product you can. Knowing that you really only have one chance at it. If it fails no one else is going to start another league in Canada. The US alone has already proved that it doesn't support it. The only way I see the league surviving is if men's hockey teams and leagues give financial support. Which comes back to the question, do people really care about "professional" womens hockey? I say not if they can't support themselves.
