It's a free internet game that came out in the early 2000's that was based around Bionicles that pretty much plays exactly like the original game, and it's surprisingly pretty fun (from what I remember it being). skitfeller Well, the idea is that after so many players visited the island, it was trashed like any tourist destination! And I'm sure there are things MYST fans could poke fun at, too, but this game did nothing with the concept.

skitfeller I think they could have taken a lot from the base game to create a parody. Maybe change solutions to puzzles because a certain button no longer works from being used over and over. Certain items being outright stolen by vistors and thus having to be replaced by something else. If they had simply made a puzzle game instead of interactive postcards, they could have made something at least halfway decent. Or at least deserving of being called a comedy.

The stories follow each other pretty distinctly (referring to prior events and building up you, the player, as an individual character in the plot, so there's a better sense of progression), so your best bet is to just play the first game Myst, preferably Masterpiece Edition to prevent compatibility errors with newer computers. If static images are too dull, then RealMyst is your other option, featuring fully 3D environments that you can walk through, though you can switch over to traditional view at any time (I think, haven't played this version in a while). The games flip-flop in quality over the course of the series (the fourth being a particular scapegoat), but Riven: The Sequel To Myst follows within moments of the first one, and is generally considered the best of the bunch. At least according to the people I've talked to. I don't know if this answers your question concisely, but just start from the beginning, you'll understand what's going on better.

Be prepared for disappointment with the older ones. They're great games, yes, but they barely work on newer computers. I've managed to make realMyst run on Windows 8 two or three times, and it crashed after 5 minutes when it _did_ run at all.

I'm a geek, not a nerd If worst comes to worst you can always just use ScummVM, which supports the first two Myst games now. I think Exile should work okay with newer stuff, though I haven't tried it. And GOG sells a few of them with fixes for modern systems, so that's always an option.

They have ALL been remade and are stunning. start with RealMyst Masterpiece Edition.
