If you have the opportunity, please watch today’s video about the Victorian house estate sale I attended. Let’s have a spirited conversation! Pour some unsweetened iced tea and join me LIVE on the front porch!

Any estate sale where they're using a Roseville jardiniere as a doorstop has to be a good one!!! Really enjoy you videos.

That gritty pear is why I don’t like fruit cocktail. And you’re right they’ve taken the cherries out! I noticed the knob and tube wiring and the plaster and lathe walls just before you pointed them out at the estate sale. Our 1929 house had some of that wiring remaining in it and I loved the plaster walls. Thank you so much for the tips on how to take wrinkles out of a print. It makes perfect sense. I envied David and Tammy’s visit to the glass museum and I so appreciated the filming they did. I would get lost for days in their library. Scott’s description of how special getting an orange was reminded me of my mother telling me how much she cherished the orange she got every Christmas. She didn’t know how to eat it, bit into the bitter rind the first time until her older sister showed her the “secret” to peeling an orange. Her parents sacrificed a lot to buy oranges, nuts and some hard candies for their children’s stockings at Christmas. Because I was raised eating from what we raised on our farm, including a huge vegetable garden, I’m aware of eating seasonally to get maximum nutrients and flavors. Being a solo reseller like Scott is tough when he gets so sick he can’t function because there’s no one to step in for him. I enjoyed the preview of items for your Two Chaps sale and I hope you get the Gang all together again.

Enjoy your channel. Glad you are feeling better and will see an allergist. I developed allergies in my late 40s giving me terrible headaches and sinus infections. No fun. For me it meant shots and meds for a few years which got rid of most of my allergies. Havent had any pain in years. I wish you well.

Dr. Zhivago was theatre-released in 1966, as I recall. “Tom Jones”, based on the Henry Fielding novel, was theatre-released in 1963. It starred Albert Finney and Susannah York, and was considered very racy for its time. I’m living in the south now, and tea is referred to as “sweet”, or “un” (for “unsweet”).

yes, we used to make ice cream in our old hand cranked ice cream maker. My mom would go buy the ingredients and the ice, my dad would chop up the ice and we would crank. Such good family memories.

Dr. Zhevago classic movie but not too much of a childhood trauma. Dad took Mrs Mistake and the six little mistakes to the movie In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. That movie was a childhood trauma. I didn't sleep without a light on for six months after seeing that movie. We also had the Big Money Movie on KSL which was with. CBS network in the afternoon. Norse,Welti and James were the news team in SLC one of the longest running teams in the nation. All three networks were on one street in SLC called Social Hall Avenue in downtown Salt Lake. Fireman Frank did the cartoons in the morning and he also voiced the late night movie called nightmare theater. Did you watch Bandstand out of Philadelphia?

Tree pollen season has become much more intense, with all the trees going into flower with the pussywillows, and they all overlap. You didn’t used to have to sweep up heavy pollen of your car and driveway. I am glad the trees make love, but I take umbrage when they involve my sinuses, throat and lungs, and eustation tubes and eyes. You never used to have to sweep pollen off your driveway, car, and windowsills, but you do now.. My Gran’s medicine cabinet contained camphor ice, Vick’s vaporub, Vaseline, tensor bandage, strips of red flannel bandage, rubbing alcohol, mercurochrome, strawberry leaf tincture, clove oil, lavender oil, white willow bark tincture, buckler’s cough syrup, pure turpentine, senna pod tincture, home made mustard plasters for whooping cough and chest colds, wormwood and calendula vinegar for bruises. And several mixture she made for various conditions, and dettol disinfectant. Once a season we left the farm and drove to town to buy whatever we didn’t grow on the farm, like flour, raisins, baking spices, rice and a few other things. We kids all got a dose of tonic at the start of every season. We canned and pickled from the garden and orchard as things came into season. We didn’t have to buy much. A whole lot has changed, but I still make many of the old methods, and they still work. Thanks for a lovely evening.🖤🇨🇦

That ceramic man head is clearly Joan Crawford's father. I'd dearly love to have him as a pencil holder, but won't make the auction tomorrow. In any case, it was great fun sitting on the porch with you, for that's how it felt, though I would have had a gin-and-tonic. Glad you're functioning again, you were sorely missed, old sport.

Last year I had to turn my air on on Mother's day and couldn't turn it off til fall. The 100 degree weather started early and stayed all summer, Aug is usually our hottest month. I've lived in TX for 30 years and Ill. prior to that. This year, I have my air off right now and door and windows open. Will have to turn the ac on in a bit as I can feel it starting to warm up too much. I love opening the windows and door so much. This year I've had a couple months of that before having to turn the ac on. Don't have to have it on all day and night yet but that will soon be the case. I look forward to the months I can open windows and leave them open.

Yes! My Grandpa Joe got tired of all us little brats running around (about 12 of us-cousins) and made us sit down in the living room and listen to Italian music. I believe on 8-track tape. I didn’t care because there was Christmas candy.

At my Grandfather’s house it was The Miracle Worker with Patty Duke. We’d sit on hassocks next to Queenie the dog, while the room filled up with cigarette smoke because my step- grandmother was a chain smoker. Or we’d just go outside and play with the cow. 😏

I have no idea why, how, or when avocado on toast became annoyingly trendy, but I was eating it over 60 years ago. I lived in southern California for 57 years, growing up around avocado groves, so they were abundant, and not in the least elitist or fashionable, and though I now live in Michigan, I eat them every week, most often on toast for breakfast, as I always have, and I would cringe at being perceived as trendy, in any way. And no cherries in fruit cocktail? So very sad.
