Grounding techniques, such as focusing on your breath or noticing sensations in your body, can help anchor you in the here and now, reducing the tendency to ruminate on past events or worry about the future. 2. **Challenge Negative Thoughts:** Become aware of your negative thought patterns and challenge them with evidence-based reasoning. Ask yourself if there is real evidence to support your thoughts or if they are just assumptions or catastrophizing. Consider alternative, more balanced perspectives. 3. **Set Aside Specific "Worry Time":** Designate a specific time each day to engage in focused worry. During this time, allow yourself to worry and ruminate, but when the time is up, consciously redirect your thoughts to more constructive or enjoyable activities. 4. **Problem-Solving Skills:** Develop effective problem-solving skills to address the issues that are causing you to overthink.
