Well at the least, now we have a manager that puts tactics of the game as a primary objective instead of cheerleading. Hope he succeeds for his (and our) benefit.

I don't think he can do any worse and at least it will be a style we can all get behind and we will (hopefully) be able to see what the plan is!

Yes it feels like a big swing in ownership could be coming. We certainly still need a director of football to come in. Lee Hoos will be the janitor too next!

@@hoopsanddreamsQPR I can't help wondering if the DoF search was delayed until the manager's future and Amit's departure were decided. Perhaps I am being cynical but now Lee Hoos can act decisively to get what he feels will benefit the club long term.

It’s a huge gamble from the board to go polar opposite’s in managerial style after we’ve already played 14 games with no pre-season with this new manager but a drastic change needed to happen asap. Tbh I recognise Cifuentes’ face and that’s it 😆 but in his interview I like how he talks, and I like his philosophy and outlook. To paraphrase he said something like ‘the way we attack is the way we defend’ which I like because instead of us sitting back on the edge of our box and trying to be hard to break down he’ll want us winning the ball back high up the pitch and attacking - I’m all for that however I just wish this happened in the summer so Cifuentes could have had a pre-season and I hope we haven’t left it too late because the biggest mistake by the board was keeping Ainsworth on after the end of last season

@Bennyboy138 you are right that his way of playing is much more controlled and formulated. Ideally he should have come in during the close season and given the squad time to adapt to the new style. Trying to do it mid-season is quite a challenge, and now the focus will switch more towards the squad's efforts to adapt successfully. Despite all the poor results, the best Starting XI is capable of changing style but a few bad results in transition may well dent fragile confidences even more. Fingers crossed!

100% Ainsworth should have gone at the end of last season, especially if Cifuentes was still on the radar all along. Now we've let Ainsworth sign who he wanted and left ourselves in a much trickier position. It does feel like anything will be an improvement on what we've been watching in the last 5/6 weeks especially.

100 up wow. Yes good optimism. Brave & bold, hopefully Marti can start with a win. Then Jan signings to mould his Team. Front 3 Chair, Dykes & Willock, subs Richards & Smyth. Going forward mids Field, Colback & Dozzell. He may have to get in proper fullbacks?.
@hoopsanddreamsQPR

I actually think his set up could suit Paal and Cannon. From what I've read his style replies on the players being very disciplined though and knowing their roles like the back of their hand and that could take time.
@bryanfisher4521
@bryanfisher4521 8 ай бұрын
Cifuentes favours 4-3-3 formation, but adapts to 4-3-2-1 and all would suit Chair & Willock playing inside left/right behind the striker. What is needed is then Paal and Cannon to overlap up the wings and (somehow) get those crosses in. Of course, all that then needs to be converted into goals!

Thanks all. I really hope the front three of Chair, Wilock and Dykes is resurrected. I can see Cannon and Paal being used to overlap (with risk) quite often, similar to Beale's tenure/style.
@hoopsanddreamsQPR
@hoopsanddreamsQPR 8 ай бұрын
Yes I hope the same, lots of movement and interchanging is required in the front line to unsettle the opposition. Cannon and Paal will probably be key and sound perfect for this set up.

As for this weekend, we do still have 2 midfielders. Dixon-Bonner hasn't had a ton of game time but it's a bit disrespectful to say we only have one midfielder available. It might be too attacking, but I'd have him and Field as the 2 in front of a back 4, and then play Smyth, Chair, Willock as a 3 behind Dykes. Armstrong maybe if he's fit
@hoopsanddreamsQPR
@hoopsanddreamsQPR 8 ай бұрын
Dixon-Bonner hasn't ever started a league game and Duke-McKenna looked lost against Blackburn, so I more meant Field is our only first choice midfielder available. Hopefully one of the young lads can step up, I actually think Dixon-Bonner was underused by Ainsworth at times, but he still has a lot to prove. Agree on the shape and hopefully a few players can find their mojo and get firing on all cylinders again!
@bryanfisher4521
@bryanfisher4521 8 ай бұрын
@danielcastle4048 I think Dozzell is best played slightly ahead of Field and Colback in a midfield '3', as he adds a link to playing through the middle and a pathway out to the wings. Dixon-Bonner should be capable of doing the same. That is has not gained match time may or may not be significant.
@danielcastle4048
@danielcastle4048 8 ай бұрын
@@hoopsanddreamsQPR That’s absolutely fair, you’re obviously correct though that he’s not first choice. But if not now, when? Think this can be a good opportunity for him. As for Duke-McKenna, I don’t think he’s a CM and that performance proved it. I always thought he was a winger, and I’ve watched a fair amount of Leyton orient because of my girlfriend, and that seems to be where he played for them too. But let’s see! I’m excited to see how he tries to line us up :)

Regarding Gareth. It is simple we don’t have the squad of players that can play the way he likes to play. Wycombe suited him. My guess is that our players are quietly celebrating the fact that that they now able to play their way without the confusion he obviously created. Shame we lost Dickie, Stefan et al. We’ll be ok now thought. Have no fear.

I'd agree on the players, I suspect many are happy Ainsworth is gone - I don't think they were happy playing that way. I still think it may have made more sense to appoint Warnock now and then maybe Cifuentes in the summer, but that may not have been an option and fair play to the club for being bold. I just hope the club stick to the plan this time, we can't keep deviating.

He really believed he had what it takes to succeed, but unfortunately this league and club proved beyond him. I will be interested to see how Ainsworth does in his next job. I think 'plucky little clubs' punching above their weight will remain his forte, QPR was never the right fit for that reason.

Sadly for Gareth it had to happen, in fact he had too long. I originally wanted to give him longer but the run we're on just got too bad and the same old excuses and hyperbole of how he was going to turn it around which never happened. The players rightly or wrongly down tools and let him down a bit and I think he was on occasions a tad unlucky but when you're down there you can't afford to be unlucky. Thankfully Cifuentes is a complete and much needed refresh, the players will be buzzing and I think the style will be much more attractive and suit the players much better. We've got some winnable games in November so I'm hopeful the green shoots of recovery will be seen sooner rather than later!!
