Snooker players miss. Pool players don’t miss. Don’t destroy the integrity of the game- and the basis of creativity- by making players miss 15 times instead of one or two a race. God that sucks.

I played on a tight pocket table for years- l loved it more than anything. I played top players in their homes- always tight pockets. I never ran into tight pocket tables that played as bad as the last few Matchroom tournaments. Whatever the formula was 40 years ago- the magic sauce that existed then is not being replicated in present tournament tables. Tight pocket tables should sharpen play- not destroy it.

Tables should always be tight like this. Better for fans knowing any shot can be missed even by the best in the world. More exciting to watch.
@zodub23
@zodub23 11 күн бұрын
Couldn’t disagree with you more, but to each his/her own of course-no disrespect. EVERYONE is capable of missing and if one is realistic enough, he or she knows that. If I personally want to see more timid play and more misses though, I’d just watch the APA or neighborhood league matches. Pool is turning into snooker
@Xombologna
@Xombologna 10 күн бұрын
Hard pass on this take. A huge part of what makes pool exciting is the ability to move the cue ball. The harder conditions really hampers the players ability to move the cue ball around. You keep hearing the commentators say how many “misses” there are on these tight conditions but none of what you’re seeing are legitimate misses. Players have played their entire life on different conditions and have created muscle memory based on those conditions and now you’re seeing those players adapting the best they can to this shitty version of pool which leads to “misses” which is basically players just limit testing how much they can cheat the ball thick on these weird tables and the ball being spat out. It’s a dumb slippery slope that’s basically turning our game into 9 ball on a Russian pyramid table. Gay and mostly unwatchable.
@Sargo197
@Sargo197 10 күн бұрын
Understand your points. It's just that on easy tables it feels like 9/10 ball is just a game of who gets luckier on the break. Good spread, run out almost for sure at their level. Here I paid attention to every shot. On easy tables I just look at what happens after the break and tune out if a run out is likely.

Pool has shot clock. Tight hole is ok but need to give them more time.5 or 10 sec i think is ok
@user-lt4pw7rv2l
@user-lt4pw7rv2l 11 күн бұрын
One reason is that the angle of the pocket rails and the depth of the rail- it’s an incorrect combination. The jaws should open the angle up a few degrees- l swear to god it looks like a Pyramid pocket. This is pool- not snooker- pool players don’t miss shots as a part of the game.
@user-lt4pw7rv2l
@user-lt4pw7rv2l 11 күн бұрын
I also noticed the exchange between Emily & JJ after the matches- how the top players don’t mind the pocket size- l call bullshit. 1) you never bite the hand that feeds. 2) It’s to Filler’s & Fedor’s advantage- as numerically the best players whatever handicaps the whole field works in their favor. Their handicap is below par while the field is par- when conditions are tough, the lower handicap player always has a numerical advantage. Their final weeks ago was a shit show- at the end Filler was genuinely laughing- because not even them both could present themselves as professionals on that equipment.
@user-lt4pw7rv2l
@user-lt4pw7rv2l 11 күн бұрын
Comment on the first match. This is why you need to not have snooker pockets. Missing shots is not a part of pool- no pool player ever was considered good if he couldn’t play without 2 or less mistakes in a race. I played on a tight pocket table for 5 years- l played on an American snooker when l had to.
