Thanks Craig, Made this bedframe this weekend. Added a middle support but it took 8hrs from start to finish, that included staining and varnish. Wife loves this bed. Thanks again you are awesome!!!!

Thanks for the video, great design. built this bed from this video 6 years ago and still have it as a guest bed. I used bolts to hold the bed rails, headboard and footboard together so it could be taken apart and moved. It also fell apart on me at one point so I pulled it all apart and added wood glue to each joint. Also included a 2x6 cap on top of footboard and headboard that overhangs by 2 inches on each side.

Used your design, worked like a charm. Followed Mr. Waite's advice and put the center support down the middle (got kids who jump in beds and heavyset relatives). Good Job Craig!!

I just build this exact bed today. All I can say is THANK YOU. Thank you for posting this video and giving the lumber to buy and the measurements. It turned out great, I just cut the legs down a little bit to sit the whole bed lower and added some supports in the middle to stiffen up the slats that the mattress sits on. Great project.

laura m I just ran two 2x4's top to bottom, and 4 across the sides. All of them are half-lapped together. Then I covered the top of the bed surface in a skin of 1/2" MDF

On the foot of the bed the 19.5" seem short so I went 20". Also, I ran a 4x4 center beam from the footboard of the bed to the headboard to support the mattress support boards (1x10) so it won't sag in the years to come. Excellent bed!!!

I built this bed back in January of 2015! Upgrading to a king and probably going to alter this design to fit a King and build it again. Sturdy as hell and giving the queen frame to my sister. Can't recommend this design enough. Looking at one of Ana White's... but I think I prefer the joint design in terms of strength on this one. May do a combination, and go with a more "aesthetic" headboard, but man this has been a great bed.

Muchas gracias.

Great plans easy to follow but i changed them for make a King size bed frame. I have also lower the side rails because at a total of 19" from floor to top of rail i think is to high, and have it at 17.5 inches because short people will cut the blood off to there legs when sitting on the side of the bed at 19 "! I also changed the 2x2 Square and made them a full 2x4 for support for mattress support on side rails. I also changed out the 2x4 for head board legs and foot board to 2x6 for more support. I also used Deck screw's as reg wood screw's will work there way out from tossing and turning and other thing that happen in a bed. Greta design...

I just built this Bed using 2 x 6 for the Bed post,,,, Great idea but i have to ask why you would not have the resting area for the long rail for side rails on inside of Frame??? For better look's and not have the L shaped corner for the bed..... Took less than 6 hours from start to finish, with staining..... P>S i added a 2x4 for support from Head post to foot board ,so the lat's are resting on them for extra support.... I am 6'3 weight 260 and can jump on the bed and it don't fall threw.... Try to find that at a box store for under $110.00

I'd like to make a King size for me, but Im not as handy as you and making it lists and could use some input. I like the height and everything else I'm just wondering what width I'd make for a king.
