The Somebody to Love version from LIVE at the Bowl has more fire, although Montreal is good, but reviewed over and over again. Under Pressure at Wembly is great. Vanilla Ice stole from the song, was sued and lost. It was created by Queen and David Bowie working together. Any song from the 1986 Wembly concert is good: A Kind of Magic,& Who Wants to Live Forever. The Drummer sings well and is a strong backing voice

One of this band's unique traits was that the band supported the lead singer because his incredible song writing, composition and vocal gifts even though they were all talented in their own right. They were not like so many other bands that were drowned out by the popularity of the lead.

The guitarist Brian May is one of the best period. He is an astrophysicist and has consulted with NASA. All 4 of the band members have written songs for the band. And John Deacon the bassists has written some of the best baselines ever.

This song was used in the iconic zombie killing scene in the pub , in the Simon Peg Movie "Shawn of the Dead" Queen was to Rock /Pop Music what Mozart was to classical.. If you continue your queen Journey you will see what I mean...These guys were no dummies. They knew exactly how to play those instruments, How to write , and sculpt a song. Brian May , the lead Guitarist , has a PHD in Astrophysics from the university of London " No Kidding "

You will not believe the range of this band! They play every kind of music and they are perfectionists! Freddie, the lead singer uses his voice like an instrument and Brian the guitarist uses that guitar, which he built himself, like a voice. They re actually better live than in the studio! Save Me, from the Montreal 1981 concert is a beautiful ballad, and really shows how the band members play multiple roles during a performance.

Somebody to Love live in Montreal is Amazing! You’ll see Roger (drummer) can sing unbelievably well at the same time he’s belting it out on the drums. This wasn’t live, it was just for the music video but If you watch anything live, Wembley in particular, you’ll see all the band members shine, not just Freddie

In the very early days, Freddie (lead singer) was shy on stage and Brian (guitarist) was the face and the main one speaking to the audience between songs. As Freddie gained confidence on stage, it switched as he became a master at not just singing but engaging the audience. Brian has been described as prone to get lost in his little world with the guitar, yet he will move around from time to time. Roger is obviously stuck behind the drums but as he provides a lot of the additional vocals, he gets his share of attention. John on the bass likes to dance about in a relatively small space. There is no doubt that they are all equally important.

You have heard several songs by Queen, you just didn't know it was Queen. We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions are 2 iconic songs. FYI: a scientific study on the uplifting effects of music named Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” as the world’s most effective song to make you feel good.

As for your question, Freddie moved around ALOT on stage, he was known for being very lively when performing(this video is nothing, you'll see lol), but the rest of the band, except for Roger Taylor(the drummer), of course, moved around too. This wasn't a live performence in front of an audience, they just made it look like one. They did that with a few of their music videos.

Yep, it's a straightforward and fun song, but man alive, the execution is masterful. \m/ And yeah agreed, I play guitar (albeit badly), but the second that I open my mouth to try and sing, it all just falls apart. I really envy folks that can do that. Interesting factoids - Brian May's guitar was homemade, with help from his father, using timber that was salvaged from an old fireplace. Also, instead of using a normal type pick, he plays using a sixpence, an old pre-decimal British coin. He's truly one of a kind.

Freddie Mercury stage presence just demanded attention without him even trying to be the focus of attention he is the best frontman in Rock and Roll history but all of the other members have their moment to shine as well they can all sing they are all number one hit songwriters the lead guitarist dr. Brian May's and astrophysicists that works with NASA the drummer is an amazing singer his falsetto is top-notch they are all quite accomplished and in their live videos they all move around Alot this was just a small confined area for a video

It’s a feel good song ... go see something live by Queen ... Live Aid 1985, Somebody to Love Montreal 1981, Rio or Wembley 1986... audiences of 100,000 to 250,000 .. just helps to see what Queen were about :) or any of music from Flash or from Highlander or maybe the football stadium “We are the Champions” or “another one bites the dust” ... the list goes on .

Freddie Mercury always corrected people who referred to him as the lead singer and would tell them he was not the leader of the group. All four were college educated, equal members. All four wrote hits. You MUST review Queen's live performance in Montreal of Somebody to Love. Freddie had a phenomenal vocal range...rare between 4 - 5 octaves. Remember also...no auto tune back in their day. Raw talent. Freddie is considered to be one of, if not the best, rock frontman in history. They have a huge catalog. Their live performance at Live Aid is also considered the best live rock performance in history...nobody controlled an audience like Mercury!

This band is an absolute quartet and QUEEN can really get down. Freddie is the frontman and this was a studio recording. If you watch some live stuff you will see the dynamic of the group. This was a short song so the guitar solo was short and the drums/bass just doing their thing but the Guitar and Drums are also singers and usually do strong back up and the bass player does step in on harmonies. All members are writers and have written number one hits. Queen covers a wide range of genres and moods. The band members all have degrees Freddie (singer) design, John (bass) electronics, Roger (drums) biology and Brian (guitar) PhD in astrophysics. Occasionally Roger or Brian sing lead but as a rule, Freddie handles that but the others are better showcased in songs other than this one. My favorite QUEEN song at this point is White Queen live at Odeon, Hammersmith. Very beautiful and dark song with a long strong piano and ripping guitar portion of the song. Queen has a lot of rock songs too, but they never tried to stay the same, they were always changing and never afraid to try new things. If you do decide to do Bohemian Rhapsody, do the studio version because it is so layered that it is an audio experience as well as a video one. Somebody To Love is another song that showcases Freddie's vocal chops and the best one of that song is the Live at Montreal. It is hard to believe that anyone can be that good live certainly on a 40 year old video, but he is amazing. Another One Bites The Dust, We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions give more attention to the other band members. Bass is lead on Another One Bites The Dust and he is the one who wrote it. You can't find a bad QUEEN song, just one that you might like better than another. QUEEN is a performing group, not just a band so their shows and live stuff can be quite entertaining. I appreciate your calm demeanor, it makes for a nice visit to your page.

The lead singer is Freddie Mercury. He was and still is s legend. He passed away from AIDS in 1991. He's still very missed. Considered by many, including me, to be the best vocalist of all time. This is such a happy song like you said. You've probably heard We Will Rock You, right?? Thst's Queen. You have to check out Bohemian Rhapsody(the studio version to get a the full experience first of the song). Another one you should check out is Somebody To Love live from Montreal. If you continue react to them you'll realise they were so much better live.

Nice reaction! As to your question. It depends on the band, some bands are focused on guitar playing others are focused on the vocalist. Queen's focus was often on the vocals, but not always. Freddie Mercury was such a charismatic performer, that he just draws all of the attention naturally. The rest of the band realized this quite early on, and they let Freddie Mercury take the spotlight. The comparison video that you watched was for Queen's historic live performance at Live Aid. It was a massive event that most of the biggest artists of the day performed at. Freddie Mercury just completely stole the show, from 60 other artists, it has been voted as the live TV performance of all time. He really did have a way of simply stealing the spotlight from anyone. You did not actually hear full song. Bohemian Rhapsody and Stairway To Heaven are often chosen as the best rock songs ever written. Everyone in Queen was actually important, in a sense they are more like The Beatles then most other bands. Every member of Queen has written a number one hit, that is something that not even The Beatles were able to achieve. No other band has achieved that. Queen is the second best selling band behind The Beatles. They had a long successful career of over 20 years of hits, they have a big discography, throughout their career they had just over 60 songs that charted. Freddie Mercury was very important, he wasn't just the singer and the piano player, he was also the main songwriter of the band. Guitarist Brian May is also very important, you might not have noticed it, but he has a very unique guitar sound. He built his own guitar, there is no one who sounds like him, he was the other main songwriter of the band. Drummer Roger Taylor is very important he wasn't just a drummer, he was also the main back up singer. It is quite difficult to sing and drum at the same time. Bass player John Deacon wrote some of the most recognizable bass lines of all time. Queen was a band full of diversity that did practically any style of music. But you have to see them live, see Somebody To Love live at Montreal 1981kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l6difLWgtaytnmQ.html.

Queen is a legendary band. Still, I am personally biased towards the 90's myself. Alice in chains, sound garden, pearl jam, stone temple pilots, nirvana, blind melon, screaming trees and such. Please do a 90's bit. The whole decade for rock (and rap) was great and deserves a playlist of its own.

The bass player,John Deacon was more laid back & shy. The guitar player,Dr. Brian May,also astrophysicist, likes to pick his guitar, called Big Red,home made by he and his father. Roger Taylor is the drummer and does a lot of vocals. Freddie Mercury is a legend with a four octave range. I’ve a six year old friend who likes Queen. I play her things I think she might like. Pharrell’s Happy song was number 1 in the UK when she was born. One day I’ll play some songs by Seal for her. I love Prayer For The Dying, but its not a song for a six year old. Some of his funkier stuff might be appropriate, but for now we can listen to Queen.

Sir Smith She was 15 months old when my grandfather died. She climbed up onto me where I was sat, put her head on my shoulder, her arm round me and patted me on the back. I’ll never know how she knew how upset I was but she knew what to do. I’d had a phone call at 3:00am to say he’d collapsed, drove round and gave CPR till the ambulance arrived. They called it at about 5:00am and I listened to Prayer For The Dying in the early hours of a beautiful summer day. He was 92 and had been my friend since I was born.
