Freddie died over 30 years ago and last month at a concert over 30,000 sang with the piped in opening music. Because every one knows the lyrics... Freddie is as close as living forever as you can get.

@@barbsaracini7866They do get mixed up sometimes, it's an easy mistake to make. Easy way to distinguish them is size. Cellos are played from a sitting position, double bass from standing because they're huge! I think using a bow throws people too as you more often see a double bass played by string plucking. Apparently plucking is used for rock and blues whereas the bow is more common in orchestral settings. Crazy amount of commitment these guys had for their music though. Brian May learned to play the harp for one song too!

My favourite Queen song ,which comes from Highlander,a very cool movie. The song with the scenes from the movie is totally heartbreaking,as he never ages but his wife does. It's also ironically a tribute to Freddie Mercury's tragic end.

Maybe so, but I have never understood the line "touch my wart with your fingertips". I have often thought that someone as bright as Brian May might have realised that this gambit might harm the song's intended effect. I mean, I get that touching your loved one's wart with your fingertips might convey a sense of genuine intimacy in terms of an epic love song...but no. Just no. No one likes warts. The day Freddie died it was basically announced worldwide by playing this song. I had just casually switched on the radio and fell into the intro of this song (my memory tells me it was at the end of the afternoon but I might be wrong) and immediately thought “hmmm… that is an odd choice for a Queen song to play” and felt immediately it must be because someone had passed away. Remember, it was never confirmed that he was sick but around the release of the Innuendo album it was clear to anyone that he wasn’t well. But the news he had passed away still came as a shock.

Actually he announced his diagnosis the day before he died. I was 13 at the time and my mother was a huge fan of Queen, and especially Freddie, so I grew up with their music. Back in those days AIDS was pretty much still a death sentence so the news was shocking. And then to hear he passed away the day after that... It was shock upon shock. They're still to this day one of my favorite rock bands of all time and Freddie the best and most versatile male singer I've ever heard. Every single time I hear this song it brings me to tears, thinking of the people I've lost. We played it at both my parents' memorial services and now, 3 months after losing my husband, I'm bawling again. Music really is a kind of magic.

Freddie knew he was having the symptoms of AIDS several years before he was positively diagnosed with it. He had already had several friends that had died from AIDS and he knew he was having the same symptoms as they had. When he finally told his band members he let them know he knew about the symptoms several years before that he had. 💔💔😢😢 Even though he was already feeling the terrible symptoms of AIDS. He kept on giving his full energy to his concerts because of the love he had for his fans and his love of music that's what kept him going for as long as he did. Despite what the haters wanted to say at that time. I believe that Freddie Mercury was God's shooting star. So bright and so beautiful but it doesn't last long in the sky. And once again despite the haters and what they said about him. MY GOD is a Loving and Just GOD. My God listens to the heart and spirit NOT who or what they are. THAT'S what he sees. R.I.P. 💔💔😢😢😢🙏🙏🙏. Freddie Mercury, may you fly on the wings of a dove in heaven. I believe since you've been gone you've been singing for God. I want to thank y'all for playing his videos and reacting. I'm so happy that the younger generations get to hear the different kinds of music I heard when I was younger but especially when they get to hear the greatest entertainer and singer ""(. Freddie Mercury )"" God Bless and keep y'all safe.🙏🙏🙏 And once again thank you for showing Freddie Mercury, sending much love to ya'll.❤❤❤❤❤❤

There are 6 songs written for the Highlander movie. Freddie wrote Princes of the Universe Roger was inspired by one line and wrote A Kind of Magic, sung beautifully 1986 at Wembley for their tour of the same name, John wrote a beautiful love song: One Year of Love, and Brian wrote a piece for the villan of the movie called Gimme the Prize which Freddie said was very difficult for him to sing in this dark heavy register. Roger finished it up with Don't Lose Your Head referring to the immortals who battle each other as there can be only one, and the only way to destroy an immortal is by decapitation. A rather brutal film and a tv series followed, but the music is excellent and so are the videos that accompany each song

I second that (Show Must Go On) - devastating vocals - important to hear it knowing the context of how it was written (mainly by Brian May) - during Freddie's illlness, the band knowing what was going to happen, Freddie knowing . . . it's an allegory for both the band and the life we all fight to live. Life is the show that must go on. And it can be a wicked pain in the ass. These guys asked for a list - Queen's catalogue is massive. Of the better-known songs I'd say Under Pressure (that's a co-write with David Bowie, live or studio both excel) and Innuendo (no live performance for obvious reasons), both songs as timely now as they were then. More timely and relevant, if anything. If they haven't done those already. I'd love to see someone react to Sheer Heart Attack 1979 Hammersmith Odeon. No one ever does that one. Best excursion into Queen madness ever. If you have high blood pressure already Do Not Watch 😁. It's wonderful. Melancholy Blues, March of the Black Queen . . . MotBQ could never be performed live except using small snippets - that was all pre-autotune pre-computer, tape overdubs till the tapes ran clear. The studio craftsmanship precursor to Bohemian Rhapsody.

@@Londoneye57 Yes, but the relationship was on a much more equitable level with Queen vs the Beatles more unequal partnership. George Harrison had so little input against Lennon/McCartney's songwriting duo that he had a whole double album worth of material when the Beatles broke up. That album "All Things Must Pass" became the best selling of any of their solo works to date (or at least it was when I looked it up a decade ago) - I don't think that is a coincidence.

John is playing the double bass, he has the red jacket. Just a fun fact: he learned to play that instrument when Brian told him that he wanted the sound of a double bass in his new song called '39, so John went home with the instrument and he learned to play it in two days, then he came to the studio and showed him his part. Because of that, I recommend that song, '39 from "A Night At The Opera" album by 1975.

Fantastic reaction! If you think Freddie cannot top that check out Barcelona - Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe at La Nit 1988, it was the official song for the 1992 Olympics. Who said Queen wasn't heavy, they have loads of metal songs as well. Also from the Highlander check out Gimme The Prize, it is a pure metal track. Queen's songs that were not hits are often better then then their hits and sometimes their live performances are better then the studio versions. A list from all of their albums, someone can help fill in if I have missed something, I am leaving out mostly big hits. Recorded in 1972: I Can Hear Music - Freddie Mercury (with Brain May and Roger Taylor) - Beach Boys and Ronettes cover song *Queen I* 1973 (The whole album is great): Keep Yourself Alive - Queen live Houston 1977 Liar - Queen live at the Rainbow 1974 Doing Alright My Fairy King - Freddie's first epic which forms part of a fantasy tale The Great King Rat - Queen live at the Rainbow 1974 (audio only) Modern Times Rock 'n Roll - sung by Roger Taylor Jesus Son & Daughter (Bonus I HD) - Queen live at the Rainbow 1974 *Queen II* 1974 (Another fantastic album, many people's favourite Queen album) Father To Son - Queen live at the Rainbow 1974 White Queen (As It Began) - Queen live at the Hammersmith Odeon 1975 Ogre Battle - Queen live at the Hammersmith Odeon 1975 (One of the first power metal songs) The Fairy Fellers Master-Stroke & Nevermore - Can be listened to together March Of The Black Queen - (Bohemian Rhapsody has 5 different section this song has 11) Seven Seas Of Rhye - Queen live at the Rainbow 1974 See What A Fool I've Been at the BBC - Queen doing blues Led Zeppelin style *Sheer Heart Attack* 1974 (This album is also often people's favourite album) Brighton Rock Killer Queen Tenement Funster/ Flick Of The Wrist/ Lily Of The Valley - Listen as a medley Tenement Funster is sung by Roger Taylor (This medley has been covered by Dream Theatre) Flick Of The Wrist - Queen live at the Rainbow 1974 Now I Am Here - Queen live at the Hammersmith Odeon 1979 In The Lap Of The Gods/ Killer Queen/ March Of The Black Queen/ Bring Back That Leroy Brown - Queen Medley - live at the Rainbow 1974 Stone Cold Crazy - Queen live at the Rainbow 1974 (Officially the first Thrash Metal song, have been cover by Metallica as well) She Makes Me (A Stormtrooper in Stilettos) - sung by Brian May Bring Back That Roy Brown (A 1920's Ragtime song, loads of fun) In The Lap Of The Gods Revisited (completely different song from the other one) - Queen live at the Hammersmith Odeon 1975 or Queen live at Wembley 1986 *A Night At The Opera* 1975 (Also many people's favourite album) Death On Two Legs (A diss track against Queen management, that got them sued) Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon - Short Vaudeville track I am In Love With My Car - Queen live at Montreal 1981 Sung by Roger '39 - Awesome folk song about space travel sung by Brian May Seaside Rendezvous - A Vaudeville song where Freddie and Roger mimics all of the orchestra sounds with their voices Love Of My Life - Try listening to the studio version it has great classical piano from Freddie. The Masterpiece that will fry your minds is "Barcelona" with Montserrat Caballe - one of the greatest Opera Singers of all time. You must watch the video/stage performance they did. She was excited that the Olympics were in her beloved country and when Freddie created the song celebrating her home town - she accepted to sing with him. What many people do not know - is he wrote an entire album for her entitled "Barcelona" and it is magnificent Queen/Opera. Every member of Queen were brilliant in their right (John was on the cello in that video - all collaborated on their work and talking of films John also wrote the music for "Biggles" and the song "One Vision" came from Iron Eagle). Hit after hit - different styles and looks - they never grew old. All could sing (Roger had a great voice!) A plea from the UK - please react to Barcelona - I want to see your reactions - you will be truly amazed : )

I had to laugh when you said later in life they shouldn’t be that good and it was their 12th album. Wait until you hear their 14th album Innuendo. It was the last album they did with Freddie while he was alive. Freddie’s vocals were absolutely amazing. The title track Innuendo is amazing and the last song on the album is The Show Must Go On which has amazing vocals and guitar. Both are studio versions because Freddie was too ill to do live anymore. Also check out the live version of Who Wants to live Forever live at Wembley 1986. Queen was doing their Magic Tour, which was the last live tour Freddie did. They sold out Wembley stadium 2 nights in a row and still had people wanting tickets so they put on another concert at Knebworth a month later. It was packed at 150,000 people. There will never be another!

I love hearing reactions to Queen, and of course, Freddie Mercury. So many years ago I was just a young kid, waiting for each Queen single and album to be released. And with the great film The Highlander came this song, and the soundtrack by Queen. This song elevated that film beyond expectation and was hailed as one of the best. Freddie was a firefly that burned out, far, far too soon. He was here on this planet for each of us and I love seeing how ge affects you guys and others because this old soul still lives in the days in the record store. You guys are cool younger men and I sure appreciate your willingness to just tryly put your feelings out there and am so glad that Freddie and Queen's music belongs to you, too and that ot all happened in oir time. Thanks, guys.

I think watching the official videos are great and I enjoy them but watching them live takes it to a completely different level. I've been listening to Queen since 1974 and you know what? Their music still gives me the chills, how fortunate I am to live in Freddie's lifetime. John Deacon was in this video he played the upright bass.

@@Melissa02891 I’m sorry you didn’t get to see the magnificence of Freddie’s performance, thank goodness we have videos 😊. Hmmm, I‘m afraid I am not a fan of Adam Lambert. He is over the top and he sounds quite unnatural, no depth. I’m glad he is enjoying himself but he’s not for me. I think people enjoy hearing the songs not necessarily AL’s voice 🤔 ❤️Freddie❤️

It made cry. This song just kills me. I think he died shortly after this album came out. I often wonder how long he knew before he died. Did any of the songs have something in there about the knowledge of impending death? God the 80’s were so hard, so many beautiful, amazing talents, minds, and voices lost. Maybe more could have been saved if the country and even world hadn’t been dead set on mistreating anyone who was not boring and unbearably uptight. The rest of humanity didn’t deserve Freddie’s awesomeness. We were all lucky to get to hear him and experience his light.

i would recommend some queen-songs for every genre they‘ve covered: hardrock: „it‘s late“, „white man“, „gimme the prize“, „tear it up“ „fight from the inside“ where the drummer sings or „was it all worth it“; pre-metal: „stone cold crazy“, „ogre battle“; progressive rock: „the prophet‘s song“, „brighton rock“, „the march of the black queen“; classic rock: „the show must go on“; pop-rock: „the invisible man“, „the miracle“, „radio gaga“; latin american bossa nova: „who needs you“; blues: „see what a fool i‘ve been“, „sleeping on the sidewalk“; folk: „´39“; funk, disco: „under pressure“, „another one bites the dust“, „back chat“, „cool cat“, „dancer“; rock ´nˋ roll: „crazy little thing called love“; gospel: „somebody to love“, „all god’s people“, „let me live“; vaudeville: „killer queen“, „bring back that leroy brown“, „lazing on a sunday afternoon“, „seaside rendezvous“; flamenco: partly in „innuendo“; waltz: „millionaire waltz“; ambient: „track 13“; arabic influenced rock: „mustapha“; some japanese: „teo toriatte“; and the list would go on and on and i don‘t know where to stop😅. there‘s some other greats as well like the song which deals with the dead pet-cat of brian may‘s childhood „all dead, all dead“ which is also cheering or one quite fine rhytm with the queen-song „more of that jazz“ or „dead on time“ or the song where they‘ve sort of bullied their former manager who betrayed them „death on two legs“. sorry, i know i have to stop now before i go on.......infinite i tell you. they‘ve got so many excellent songs which never got really famous like „get down, make love“😜...shhh.....stop it.....
