According to what I heard, both Brian May & Roger Taylor it would too much to have Marc as the singer. I saw Marc Martel in concert he was absolutely wonderful, if I was blind I would have sworn on my life that Freddie was on stage. No disrespect to both Brian & Roger, but I truly have no desire to see Adam Lambert singing Freddie's songs.

Adam has great stage presence like a Freddie did that’s the reason they picked him…his vocals suck tho, I saw them live :/ I think Harry Styles would be a better fit.

Bc Martel upstages Maylor even though he performs with his own band. Maylor want to be the stars of their own show and rightfully so. Had they hired Marc, their show would instantly turn into a show about Marc and Freddie.

They didn’t want someone who sounds like Freddie based on early interviews.

Marc’s band is One Vision of Queen. Every performer is unique. Every voice is unique. And Marc didn’t only get close to what Freddie did, but does what Freddie did at 2-4x the rate of shows per year and with much better consistency.

No one has said that, however, most of the tours of Marc's former band, and Queen's own Queen Extravaganza, have been in England. He probably doesn't want to compete with his former bosses as a gentleman. Queen Extravaganza has two singers now, something they didn't need when they had Marc. And although fans seem to be happy with QuEx, they are not what Roger envisioned would be the best Queen cover band, unless they get Marc back.

There is an embargo on Marc’s talent in the UK! Our local talents can’t compete! LOL

@@scottmax69 I Hear you sir. Many bands from that era that still have their original lead vocal invariably have someone who would naturally struggle to capture their old form anyway. A good example is the two UB40's currently playing. One featuring Ali Campbell and the other, his brother Robin. I still have to check it's Ali if I get a chance for a ticket. For me, I'd rather close my eyes and listen to a great facsimile of Freddy, than the original guitarist and drummer with a front man giving a heartfelt karaoke performance. Horses for courses as they say. I once had a comment from someone that they'd rather listen to the real thing than a cover band. At no point did the other chap indicate that he was particularly skilful with a Ouija board so I refrained from pointing out the obvious 😄The remote arrangement sessions that Marc performed during lockdown, particularly the Under Pressure track gave me smiles and goosebumps in equal measures.

Freddie Mercury is still the best, the gold standard as an artist and performer. Marc is pretty good too. 😉

There is a small problem with the popular theory about May and Taylor only allowing gay men as their lead singers. They toured with Paul Rodgers as "Queen + Paul Rodgers" from 2004 until 2009.
