Only two hours away, the transit city of Muntilan between Jogja and Borobudur or Magelang turned out to have a unique culinary.
BRONGKOS SOUP AT PAK HAJI DUL's FOOD STALL
This particular stall is located after the Muntilan bus terminal. If you come from Jogja, it's on the left side of the road. There is nothing special on the menu on the banner. There are only listed SPECIAL SOTO and BRONGKOS.
-
The soto soup looks similar to the one in Klaten, which has clear broth and served on a plate. It's just that here the broth is more tasty and the toppings are more varied. The rice is quite a lot. This may be because they used to serve large portions at affordable prices when they were selling in the Muntilan market.

What surprised me was the brongkos soup. Brongkos soup that I commonly find has meat as its main ingredient, supplemented with tofu, tempeh, and adzuki beans. But brongkos presented here only contains meat with seasoned coconut milk sauce. Good quality meat, without any tendon. This is outstandingly delicious, better than the soto.

Soto w/ rice : IDR 10,000
Brongkos w/ rice : IDR 23,000
Meat : IDR 14,000

"STAND" CHICKEN BLENDRANG
To be honest, when I heard the word Blendrang, I had no idea at all. I searched on Google and only showed chicken bones or goats in thick gravy. I have visited Blendrang Stand several times and they are always closed, I don't know why. But after a few failed times this time I managed to visit them.

This gravy blendrang has gravy, ginger, cutcherry and other spices. This stall provides two flavors: savory and spicy. The sauce is good, but your hands will get messy when you eat away at the bone. For me who are not accustomed to eating bones, this is indeed not comfortable. But I'm sure for those who like to be messy especially like parts of chicken legs, neck or other parts of the chicken bone it must be in love. The price is only IDR 4,000 per serving.

JENANG GATA GAMOL
I stopped by to this particular jenang for the dessert. I got more and cheaper than the one at Beringharjo market in Jogja. And for a certainly better taste, its cost just IDR 4,000.
