Quick and Easy Recipe: THE BEST Kickin' Collard Greens With Bacon
*Repost for full sound*. Today we are making Kickin Collard Greens. This is an easy recipe that will have you wanting more. Just a few ingredients...including bacon. Make sure to taste them as you go so you can adjust the ingredients to your liking. These take about an hour to cook; believe me, it's worth the wait.
Ready in 70 minutes
Serves 6 people
Ingredients
2 tbsp of chicken bullion
7 slices of bacon
1 large onion chopped
2 garlic cloves minced
1 tsp pepper
3 cups of water
3 bunches of fresh collard greens - picked, washed and cut
1 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tbsp white vinegar
1-2 tbsp brown sugar
Hot sauce
Preparation
Add bacon to a large skillet, and cook until crisp.
Remove bacon from pan, crumble and set aside.
Over medium heat, add onion to pan, and cook until tender, about 5 minutes.
Add garlic, and cook until just fragrant.
Add collard greens, and fry until they start to wilt.
Pour in water, and add bullion, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Let simmer for 10 minutes
Add in vinegar and sugar and hot sauce
Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 45 minutes, or until greens are tender.
