Demonstration on how to cleanup thorny brush, piles of leaves and grass clippings quickly. Use this simple method for rose bush clippings and other thorny cuttings to avoid cuts and scratches. Great way to get rid of fall leaf piles.

This is so helpful. I have been chopping away at a big pile of similax I took down. Next, I’m going to use the hedge trimmers to make the job faster and easier.

I love using a hedge trimmer to make a nice chopped salad of stick or fountain grass piles

It took only 15 seconds to see the piles being raked into the barrel. The rest of the time was spent talking & raking. I know how to rake... Instead, spread out a tarp, rake the brush onto the tarp, gather the tarp by the corners, put rope in the grommets & around the wrists, & drag to dumping off area. Works for me...

We use the tarp method as well, but not everyone has a place to take the tarp.

you did good, but they will be stuck in the bin and the garbage truck will have a hard time emptying it. Maybe burning it or hauling it to landfill?

I am not allowed to put cuttings of Norweigen blackberries that grow on my small urban lot, into my green recycle can for curbside compost pick up. So I have to dry them out first and then I burn them in my Weber BBQ. It's tricky. I want to get them dry fast so they will burn. I like to lay them over a small backyard table to dry, but I've got a lot more prunings than that. I am back to cutting them manageable lengths and putting them loosely in a trash barrel. Still need more drying space.

If you have an open area that gets direct sunlight, spread out some tarps and lay the prunings out to dry. I keep my excess in totes to reduce exposure to moisture until there's a sunny day.

@@violetdexx9970 I've burned one batch in the Weber BBQ and it is a little tricky. I hate losing stickers in the yard as I love to go barefoot. I had one 5 gallon bucket of dried up cuttings and that dumped into the BBQ very neatly. It is dry enough out here I can actually dry them like that and I have lots of those buckets. I am also considering cutting stuff up into regular big paper grocery bags and just putting the whole bag on the fire. I think they dry up quicker when they are cut up so that may make up for the fact that I got it stuffed in buckets.
