I use a nokta makro simplex, so no use to me, but I still watched all the way through 👍

Same here. Good to see the suffistycashun of other machines. I always use Park 1, max sensitivity and iron off. I shift to all metal mode if I have difficulty locating it once I lose the target after I dig. What settings do you use?

@@Osmiculture I use park 2, notched out 0-15 with iron audio on one bar, ussally knock the sensitivity down one bar too and ground balance when I remember. Ive only been doing this since the start of the summer and am very limited on permissions however i have had a great time so far already ticking off a few bucket list items, silver shilling, gold 1/3 Guinea, toy motor bike and a brass door knocker. Any tips I might not know for the simplex? What's yours found for you?

@@philpsyplays9815 Well you've found gold which has eluded me, but I am in a realtively poor rural farming area in France. The Simplex was my first (after a cheapo starter machine). In nearly 2 years I have done well - I believe - on average, a coins few most weekends at various VDI numbers. Found quite a few scattered Romans (Sesterci often at 79 VDI). 72 full horseshoes though and hundreds of shotties! As far as ground balancing, I thought only the all-metal mode requires it (if the soil is mineralised). I don't notch either (but have iron grunt on zero) as I don't want to miss stuff - the relics and ever-changing coins here come in at all sorts of numbers and pollution density is manageable. Park 2 sure has a faster recovery (if polluted), but my impression was that the 'new' Park 1 introduced after the last s/w update a year ago seemed to add considerably more sensitivty.

@@Osmiculture I think I'll try park 1 when I get out this week then, should it be a slower swing in park 1? Finding roman sounds amazing! My good coin was 1804 and is the oldest thing I have found that I can date, I would love to find roman but I'm not sure I'd even recognise it. I have only a handful of coins that are modern other than the 2 mentioned above and this is probably due to the type of farm land I'm on in the UK.

@@philpsyplays9815 it all depends on the target chatter/'pollution'. Try taking the notch off and going with iron on 1 or zero. You'll hear a sort of hiccuped delayed tone when you pass over small pieces of iron but you'll be able to focus on 14+ VDI which you might dig if steady on 90° angle passes, and you can better isolate good mid tones. You don't have to swing slower generally, but if signals are not too dense (where Park 2 may be better) you just have to go slower when you examine a spot. I generally find that targets that vary up and down the VDIs +/- 20 are usually foil or rusty flat iron.

You need to drop two notches or you will be missing some coins. You will pick most coins up.
