I once saw a guy at the range fiddling for the longest time with his 10/22 trying to get his bolt to release. Still have no idea why they’d put a mirror at the range. 😳

i'm a year late, but they put those mirrors out on the range so that spectators can laugh at idiots fumbling with their bolt release instead of googling how their firearm works :P

No need to make fun of the newbies, we all green at one point. Be encouraging that they go out and practice and try.

That’s actually a great idea. I had an AUTOMAG with similar hammer spring. It would occasionally “snag” never dig figure it out, and got rid of it. Now that I have seen this vid, I believe I know what was wrong with it.

So Glad to see @Brownells back on youtube. #Brownells has help set the standard on firearm safety and educational videos. Whether explaining an old part like this, or the latest newest part in details, hands down you guys are the best. Thank you for uploading this videos and making them free to watch instead of selling them on DVDs or VHS/betamax/laserdisk/Capacitance Electronic Disc......

Most people hold on to that button, while they try to release the bolt. You have to release the button first, then release the bolt. Or just do like me, and make it auto release.

Zack Zura one of the first things I did with mine was replace it with one that releases automatically. I can't believe Ruger hasn't made this the default yet.

I modified mine, with a flat file, and a round file. Works perfect!!! I also filed on my sear, and hammer until my trigger was a crisp 1.5lbs. I also installed a stronger plunger spring, to hold the mag in tighter. Thinking about doing the bolt curvature mod next, so it will feed any brand of ammo. Right now, it only likes CCI.

That bolt lock release stupidity is fortunately very easy to fix so it releases like pretty much any other firearm - when you pull the bolt back. Just a little filing is all it takes. Now why they didn't implement the last round hold open is a whole other gripe.

That's cool but my Remington 597 I just received in the mag well push up on bolt catch and then just have to rack it like normal to chamber a round or just drop the bolt..... 10/22 is still better but love my 597 and works everytime.... just need help squaring up the end of the barrel to 90° and then cutting it exactly to 1/2 inch to thread it... need a 1/2 inch anular cutter badly!!!

About a month ago I bought the 22 Charger. It is without a doubt the kinkiest design of any gun I own. To clean it you have to pull it out of the chassis which is no big deal. Putting it back in is a nitemare. When you center the safety you can’t bump the gun in any way. If you do the safety moves to one side and then you can’t put it back in the chassis. I’ve changed out almost the entire lower to make the gun descent. Had I known it was going to need all this I never would have bought it. The BX-25 Mags are manufactured short so they wobble around. If you doubt this do search on KZfaq for a fix. I’ve seen at least 5 different ideas. Shame on Ruger for selling a product of such poor quality! I won’t buy another Ruger! There are so many good quality manufacturers I don’t need to buy from low end companies.

I hate how the gun doesn't stay open on last round I may trade it in just cause of that I want ease of use not to be fumbling around with that gun trying to get it to work. Only shot ten rounds through it a year ago haven't shot it since my marlin 22 starts open on last round and is way easier to operate
