In this video, we diagnose and repair a horizonal shaft twin cylinder engine that is only running on one cylinder.
Machine: Grasshopper 727KW
Engine: Kawasaki FD750D
The machine bogged down easily and seemed to run rough. When we removed the left side spark plug wire, the engine died. When we removed the right side spark plug wire, there was no change in performance, leading us to believe it was only running on one cylinder. We tested the ignition coil and it worked properly. We tested the spark plug and it was working properly. We did not test compression.
We removed the carburetor and cleaned it. While we were at it, we drained the fuel and cleaned the fuel tank and replaced the fuel line between the carburetor and the fuel pump.
After this, the machine ran on both cylinders and ran well.
We used Gumout Carb / Choke Cleaner for this repair.
