I coat my mask baffles lightly all over with silicone faucet grease. Not only does the can come apart easily but to clean it I can just wipe the carbon off with paper towels and the baffles look like brand new. Re-coat with faucet grease and it is ready for another 1500 rounds.

I’m speculating that it was to knock the baffles out, but yeah, DA kind of left us hanging there.

It's best to clean the mask every 300 rounds or so to prevent the lockup. I waited a bit too long (650 rounds) and had to put the stuck baffles in an ultrasonic cleaner to get them apart.

@@AdamRitchie2 I've gone thousands when mine was still in jail, so I couldn't clean it. Came apart just fine. Cleaning sucked.

I went through about 500 to 600 rounds in a day and didn't really have any issue cleaning it. Trick is to precoat the baffles with something like Thompson Center Bore Butter and the fouling comes off much easier.

The Mask working very well for me. Not exactly sure though what solvent is best for removing the carbon and lead buildup.

Would oiling the baffles before reinsertion prevent the lockup?

Bro I wouldn’t tell people to hammer the baffle stack unless your trying to sell more baffles

I’m surprised you haven’t made a Flash hider for the Mask. Would be extremely useful

How so? I haven't noticed any flash with my mask at all. Flash hiders on 22 cans seems pretty pointless.

Yes, some cool accessories for the mask please. Like a mini-ebreak, flash cap, or colored endcaps. Anything cool dont care if its unnecessary

From cap will not thread off . I can use an ultra sonic cleaner . That’s my next step to clean

I’ve had a Silencerco Sparrow and a Dead Air Mask for several years. Both are good, but I almost never use the Mask anymore. It’s just personal preference, but I find the Sparrow monocore less of a hassle to disassemble and clean, especially as I routinely shoot 1000-2000 rounds before doing that. The Mask is a really good can, but probably needs cleaning much more frequently than the Sparrow when it comes to high volume plinking.

I like the comment about using silicone faucet grease to lightly coat the surfaces of the Mask. Will try that and see if it solves my problem with it.

@@MrRarehair Yeah I saw an example in a forum. After you pre-treat the baffles they are very easy to clean.

Good to know. I’ve had some success coating baffles with other products-will definitely try the faucet grease. Shooting the Sparrow and Mask side by side (on identical hosts and using the same subsonic ammo),, the Mask doesn’t have the 1st round pop that the Sparrow does. Both cans are full auto rated, so it’s good to have more than one handy if you’re using them for that. What do you use to clean your baffles? Since they’re stainless, I put them in the ultrasonic tank, fill it with undiluted white vinegar, and turn on the heat. I run it for a few hours and that usually leaves the baffles clean. I try to be careful with the used vinegar by wearing gloves since it contains carbon and lead particles, then dispose of it properly.
