Facing, rather than binding really makes these art quilts! What a great idea. Thank you for sharing your technique and your magnificent quilt.

Fantastic quilt, I been sewing at the age of 8. My mom taught me and I been quilting for over 20, and use to make my wife's clothes. Thanks for sharing 😊

7:56 What a wonderful finish. I have just completed a hexagon English paper piece quilt and was struggling with how to complete the edges as I didn’t want to compromise the pattern. I will use the facing technique which you demonstrated beautifully.

Popping over from Kate at The Last Homely House. Ive been quilting for decades, and can’t believe I’ve never seen the facing technique. I think I’m going to give it a try on my next one. Thank you for sharing your tutorial/technique.

Love your quilt, Joe! I like using a binding on the back only, it gives the quilt a clean and modern vibe.

I'll have to give this a go! Looks better than the facing with triangles in the corner on the backside.

Another fascinating quilt! The only similarity yours have with mine is the facing; I use a similar method. 😉🙃😄

I love facing as a technique, but isn't it like borders, opposite sides should measure the same, and be pinned such that the ends are pinned first then the middle, with everything in between eased? To prevent rippling.

How do you hang your quilts with no visible hardware? Is a sleeve necessary with smaller pieces? Thank you for your contemporary inspiration!
@Joethequilter

I make the sleeve 1” short of each side so the hanging rod can hide.
