Quonset Hut Build Part 2: We Start Raising the Arches.

This is a Future Steel Building, Type A 24x30 Prefab Metal Building Quonset Hut Kit. The concrete was poured mid October 2022, and we started the structure a week or so later. The first rib was erected all at once, but that was super wobbly and not going to work. So the next panels were put together piece by piece. It's a very slow process without help, and we are lucky to get two full arches up per day. We're just happy that it's going up, slowly but surely! We ran into a couple snags around the half way point, and then were delayed nearly two weeks by poor road conditions and extreme cold overnight temperatures. It's 2/3rds done now and temporarily halted until we get a good stretch of nice weather in the forecast.

I spent over 2 hours on the phone with Future Buildings the other day. Couldn’t get a straight answer. Used car pressure sales techniques. I hope your building wasn’t too expensive but I’m very disappointed in my shopping experience. They start out a it’s on clearance down from $75k and drop immediately to half. But “you have to sign today!” My last quote for a comparable building same size same gauge was $20300 delivered. 40x40x20 18ga. The only difference was the warranty on rust penetration. 35 years vs 50 years. Also the quote is good for weeks if not months. I’m 64 and a 50 year warranty is meaningless at this point in my life. The warranty is only for rust penetration not the entire building. This has been an ordeal.

A few more people or a lift would have been very helpful! It was a bit sketchy at the start. Thankfully it just wobbled a bit and stayed up.

The model we have is 23-24' in width and the height is 12'6-13'6. Thanks for watching! Stay tuned for our future videos - we'll be finishing this quonset over the next couple months.

Yes, layer chickens for sure! Possibly a couple (pet) goats or other small animals down the road. We've raised freezer beef in the past, but we're not sure if we want large livestock again.
