Hey John, Lay that stinger across your leg at the wrong time and you will know why its called a stinger. Time to build some stuff with the bastard. First project, a custom machined slag hammer! You are really getting some great through the lens welding shots. All the best, Tom

Thanks for your great video especially the bit about the additional control. It was most interesting to both watch and listen to your commentary, the later welding demo was great.

Hi John. Nice new Doubleboost channel logo, and set of welding videos. Especially useful for me since I was about to buy a welder/plasma cutter. I looked at the R-Tech site after your 1st welding video and would have bought one of theirs if only they'd had a cutter included (I wonder why they don't). Anyway, I went and bought another 200amp welder that seems capable of all that yours does + plasma cut. I'm personally especially interested in thin Stainless steel, Aluminium and general cutting so looking forward to your plasma cutting review. I bet R-Tech's sales have been boosted to double what they were before, so I think your channel name is PERFECT for the job, and you deserve a plasma cutter for free. Regards Mark in the UK

It looks like you got a good one. Everlast sells what looks like the same thing in the USA, but have had problems with DOA machines and support is a nightmare

The big difference between Rtech and the competitors is they spec their internals and CHECK the quality control great standard.. No way can rtech offer a 2 years warranty with collection and return included. Unless their gear is a great quality. Then you cant take out further two year warranty for an extra few quid,. I call that customer service................plus a bit more. BTW the everlast might look the same case etc but the internals will not be the same. the most important part of the internals are from siemens NOT china.

I bought an Rtech 170EXT digital TIG welder about 32 months ago. I absolutely love it. Fantastic value. 2 years collect repair and return warranty, and excellent customer care, John's videos are really useful, also these machines appear identical to the Everlast range of welders sold in the USA, so there are loads of videos on You tube. (I'm a hobbyist and the machine makes me look to be a much better welder than I actually am!

Just wanted to say thanks for your efforts making this series of videos. My mind is now made up, I am going to buy one for myself. Just considering either buying a 200 or saving for a bit and getting the bigger model. Just know if buy the 200 going to need just a little bit more and wish had bought the bigger unit!. Apparently adding a little helium to the mix gives an increase in capability, any thoughts on this? You just using pure Argon for everything? Be interesting to see the same settings used on all options of gas? Cheers mate.

John that was a great review very informative thank you I really enjoyed it, I must ask though why did you pick the manual rather than digital version was it just the cost? or is the manual version better? the manual version certainly looks easier to setup. My Finance director (SWMBO) has finally released funds for the purchase of an AC/DC Tig and the choices are either of the R-Tech 200/210 amp models or a Jasic 200 AC/DC Digital or a Portamig TEC-TIG 185 AC/DC TIG. Regards and seasons best Paul

John, In this Video what rods are you using. The rod seems to be self de-slagging electrode. I Still use the old 12swg, 10swg, 8swg,6swg.

Is there any way you can send me the spacer drawing you have via Email and maybe even a quick design sketch of how you did the screw and nut at the bottom? Or maybe you can just make a detailed video about it when you have some time, that would make my day! What is the hole pattern dementions?
