Thanks for showing your new tool...and for the safety rules. Tying the bottle so it can't fall isn't just for protecting the regulator, it's also for safety. If the bottle falls and the neck breaks off, you have a rocket with a 3000psi exhaust and about 1" opening....or about 3000 lbs of thrust. There's a show here in the states called Mythbusters, and one of the shows demonstrated what happens. The bottle went through the backstop they'd set up to catch it AND the concrete block wall behind that. Not something you want to do at home. I was initially disappointed that your welder is UK only, but one of the comments mentioned Everlast, and it does look like a green version of the same machine, but for sale here. Yay! Thanks for the vid!

Good video. Nice to see the important safety stuff highlighted as well. Not too many people on YT do the safety precautions. Good to see you attach importance to that aspect.

Thanks John that was extremely helpful in explaining those knobs. Also I never knew there was a white Tungsten and Red. Maybe my welding Aluminium will now improve with the right Tungsten. Look forward to seeing more.

2Tand 4T is to do with whether you hold the trigger to weld(2T) or press it once to start welding and then press it again to stop(4T) At college we were told to allow about one second of post flow per ten amps. So 100 amps is around ten seconds. If the end of your tungsten is going blue between welds, increase the post flow a bit.

Hi John No doubt loads of requests will flood in for demonstrations of different types of welds as time goes bye. One I would be very interested in seeing is Copper to copper, i.e. a small boiler shell, if that is possible with this machine. I guess some sort of filler rod apart from silver solder is used or is silver solder used? It would be nice if a copper rod could be used to make a shell and then silver solder for bushes etc. Really enjoy videos, thanks for taking the time to make them.

I used TIG in a workshop (at a bench after I left the Shipbuilding) But I never seemed to get the Amps right for the Metal .except when I was welding boiler tubes for the Dungness reacter. Is there a rule of Thumb for setting the Amps on TIG

Hi George One amp per .001 (one thou) works up to about 150 amps John

Isn't that in fact a 32Amp blue round plug you've wired to the welder. I have the Tig251 from R-Tech and that has to have a 32Amp because the welder will draw more than 16Amp at full power out. It just looked rather large for a 16Amp in you're hand. I like the helmet. I have an early Sip which isn't affected by the low amps but then Parweld brought out the same mask and it suffered with low amps. Sip must have had better electronics I guess. Torch water cooling is a must for long welds at high Amperage too.

John Have you seen BlueHandsVideo and his visual statement that your warning about not wearing nitrile gloves while welding is a load of shite ? I'm sporting a burn on the back of my right hand I got just from radiated heat through a heavy gauntlet, so how you could imagine really thin nitrile film can protect your skin is beyond belief ! Keep pushing your message - safety is paramount, and forever. Cheers

Possible without using filler rod, yes. However, you will then have what's termed an 'autogenous weld', where the surrounding parent metal is 'robbed' to make the weld, resulting in a weak area either side of the weld line. Much better to use a filler rod in most cases.

You can TIG copper. Try google search "Kevin Caron TIG weld copper". He is an artist, has a YT channel, does a copper TIG session. Or just google copper TIG welding, easy to find his demo session from the results of the search.
