This guy is brilliant and communicates better than any teacher I met. Without these videos I would not have progressed. Even better I have saved money by blacklisting the mindless crap in the adverts, like bobby dodging crap 2nd rate car insurance cetificates. £460 for A4 print of BS. Thanks so many times doobleboost

Just discovered your videos they are so helpful while I am choosing which welder to get for Al welding i appreciate the time taken to show assembly and disasembly of the torch for different situations, and the odd bastard thing running away from the table.

Congrats on the video of the weld process. That may be the clearest shot of a weld puddle I've seen to date. I've never TIG welded...just MIG and OA...but I hear that TIG is a bit like OA. I've even managed to gas weld aluminum once...and only had a couple of blow thoughs...you really have to move along once you get started with that. Cobalt blue lens helps. I hope Tarzan doesn't make any more appearances! -- Mike

Alan, how did you get on with this welder? I ask because I am possibly looking at buying one of these models.

@@howardosborne8647 its fine mate it takes a bit to get used to the right settings for different metals but well worth the money imo.

@@alanbrown1563 Thanks for sharing your experience with this unit. I've had a good read of the customer reviews on the R-Tech site and it is highly rated. I think when looking for a versatile Tig welder it is best policy to buy a quality item with lots of features. This seems to tick those boxes pretty good. The 3 year warranty is reassuring as well. I heard a saying on another channel a few days back "buy nice, or buy twice". I reckon there's a lot of wisdom in that statement. Cheers👍

@@howardosborne8647 Just be sure to get More filler rods and metals I'm lucky that a mate works for a laser cutting place and got me scraps of steel ' stainless and aluminum to practice on and I went for the V2 welder's helmet from R-tech as my eyes aren't what they used to be and the bigger screen helps me.

Hi John. seems to be an array of Gas lens available. I cant afford to buy all sizes so what is the logic behind the gas lens. Using a small lens to be able to get into small spaces of get a larger one? I am thinking about getting the small lens in 1.6 and large lens in 2.4 as I would rarely use 3.2 anyway. (Just to start with) Obviously there is then a choice of ceramic sizes. lol (although they dont cost as much!)

Hi John great vids, just curious do you ball the tip of your tungsten on a piece of steel for aluminum or are you just grinding to a blunt point? thanks for sharing.
@doubleboost10 жыл бұрын
Hi All I do is grind to a blunt point As long as you don't "dip "your tip it well weld for ages Regards John

never used a TIG, looks a bit like Oxy welding alloy which i have done many years back, the pain was the oxide layer, heat it heat it and the whole bloody lot collapses. have also stick welded alloy with varying rates of success

Does the machine ever trip out at that higher current ? Having issues with mine tripping at what seems way too low effort. Warning light comes on, power cycle resets it and away you go again. I just find it hard to think I need larger than 200A, and that's some chunky aluminium at the end there

I have never had the machine cut out . Get in touch with R Tech .use my name by all means
