Hiya mate, I bought this welder a couple of years back after watching your excellent videos on it, it's a great welder, I'm chuffed to bits with it, thanks.

Good vid as usual. Lets face it most of us don't buy migs for home to weld brand new material. We buy them to save money so the exhaust repair was a good shout. Geoff.

I’ve been looking at getting a welder & really fancied the Cigweld 185 ultra from Australia as it pretty much sets the welder up, put the cost gets up to £1300. I’ve come across the R-Tech which is a third of the price but needs some welding knowledge/experience which I’m in very short supply of. I have really enjoyed your no nonsense approach which reminds me of the building college teachers I studied under. Thank you for the knowledge you’re sharing👍

Very handy knowing the settings for 1.6mm John, as I'll be buying one of these to weld 1.6mm 1.5"OD mild steel tube. What would the settings be if I was using 0.8 wire? Cheers
@lanceblack8884 жыл бұрын
Fascinating stuff. What’s creating the weld? Is it the wire itself or is it melting the actual steel?

What about gasless welding with flux wire? How does this compare?

How does this r-tech compare to the French made GYS welders amazon is selling?

My efforts to date have produced poor brittle black “welds” via gasless flux welding. Is this oxidation?

hi john what gas setting are you using for mig, im not getting the results i would like, i have rtech 180 regulator

Hi, I enjoyed your video's but I have a question. When you are welding the sound is like a fast "popping" machine gun. Many times welders say the settings are not right when you hear this sound. Your welds look great so what is this about sound? Thanks.

agreed my tutor when i was at collage would have had me for welding that fast

hi john got my rtech 180 and its cool but im struggling to get a decent weld, it sounds very stuttery and popping , ive tried the settings you used here but no joy , have been trying different settings but no luck, the weld look ok but the stuttering is very off putting, any advice mate

To me John's current is to high for the wire feed it is going into the spray transfer area, also try welding right to left so you can see the weld and where you are going ,and on thin plate you do not need a large weld , hope I have been of help

John ivr recently bought the Rtec 180 mig just using strate co2 I'm just burning strate through on every panel I touch fresh metal or slit rust I've mixed around with the setting using0.6 wire & still no matter how low or high go with the setting im blowing through could it be the co2 as my old sip 100amp welder didn't do so when using co2 . Any I dears ? Very grateful

John, if you have a manual tig torch could you show how the welder copes with a bit of scratch start tig? Colin
@mfletch39210 жыл бұрын
It's only a mig welder reedxuk
@reedxuk10 жыл бұрын
m fletch it's also an inverter arc welder, so hopefully should be good for scratch start tig too.
@mfletch39210 жыл бұрын
Cheers how would you set the gas up to use it as a tig
@reedxuk10 жыл бұрын
m fletch the gas is controlled by a manual valve on the tig torch which is used to turn the gas supply on and off. The welder itself is used purely as the power source. This is the type of tig torch I use www.weldequip.com/tig-conversion.htm

@doubleboost6 жыл бұрын
You can use flux core wire (not ideal) you can also do MMA (stick) welding You really need gas to use the set properly
