How come your welders don’t have the guide sheet on the inside? All the state side videos i see, they have a cheat sheet built in! :o

I love my R-Tech Mig 180, too, but mine has now developed a fault, in that it arcs without the trigger being pressed for a couple of seconds and that often welds the wire to the tip, which is a real pain. It would be nice (now that my warranty has expired) if I had access to a schematic so that I could explore the bleed down resistor and contactor circuitry that people speak of. I'm not planning a hammer test on it but I'm getting frustratingly close! 🤣🤣

Cheers pal. Yeah they are fantastic welders and the plasma cutter is spot on too. I was in 2 minds whether to go for the 250 but I've only got a standard power supply and to be honest the 180 is more than enough for what I will need it for at home. I do fancy the 250 tig welder though lol. Maybe next year😂

Yeah I know that feeling mate. I had all my rtech kit in the basket for a few weeks and then a rtech ad came up on my Facebook with a 7.5% off code so it just had to be done then lol. I'm really happy with all the stuff I got from them. 👍

@@TheYorkshireMix there based just round the corner from me so I might pop in today. I’m a beginner but I believe in buying descent gear straight out of the gate, I’ve broken the golden rule too many times and regretted it “ buy cheap buy twice”

Yes.... good one. The fact that you can use the spool gun and weld aluminium as well makes this a strong contender for me

Yeah its definitely 1 of my best perches and the rtech customer service is fantastic if you do happen to run in to any problems. At some point I would like to get a tig welder from them too👍

Just bought one. That Earth wire is impressive. The one on my GYS is way too short. Good welders though GYS.

Mate I just made a video on a little 140amp dc inverter mig welder of Amazon for £99 which is impressive for the cost would be great for any beginner welders on a budget.

Yeah you don't need to spend a lot to get in to welding and it sounds good for someone getting in to it. Ive been looking at a cheap tig but decided to hold out for now and go with the rtech later in the year as they are good quality and guarantees 👍

Good review. As you said you use bigger welders at work can you tell me why Id want to use 0.8 wire over 0.6 wire for general farm gate/car panel work. I'm not using it professionally. And the plug you fitted there, have you used it on full power with the 16a plug fuse straight from standard 240v single phase mains? Did it trip? Did it blow the plug fuse? Thanks and keep up the good reviews.

Cheers pal. I would use 0.6 for welding sheet steel like car panels etc and I would use 0.8 for anything over 3mm thick. Ive just got a standard 13a 3 pin plug on it and it runs well. Never blown a fuse or tripped the power. Ive not really had any work that needed it to run on full power so I can't say if running it at full power would eventually blow a fuse but I did do a quick 5 minutes test on full power without any problems. Hope this helps 👍

You get a max' output of 140 amps from a 3 pin plug, but the full 180 amps if you use a 16 or 32 amp. Also advisable to fit a 32 amp type 'C' MCB in your consumer unit.

How do. Cheers for the video. I am looking for a new little welder and currently stuck between this one and a CYC machine. (after your vid I'm leaning towards the R Tech) Are you still happy with it after three years?? Ta

Yeah im still more than happy with it. Its a lovely welder and the customer service is fantastic. I did have 1 problem with it so I rang rtech up and they sent someone out to collect it the next day. I had it back in 4 days working perfectly again at no extra cost to me. The 5 year warranty you get with this welder makes it worth every penny 👍

Cheers pal 👍. Its still brilliant mate. I did have 1 problem with it about a year ago. The wire feed stopped working so I rang rtech up and they sent someone out to collect it the next day. I had it back working like new in 4 day's and it didn't cost me a penny. Its been faultless since then and I'm still really happy with it and the service I got from them👍

I've found if you match the wire speed and the voltage on the dials it run well sounds like to high wire speed dude

Yeah it depends what size wire you use too. If I remember correctly I was using 0.6 wire and I find it to weld better with less power and more wire feed on the size but when using 0.8 you're not far off setting the dials the same and then do a bit of fine tuning as you go👍

You can use smaller or bigger bottles but this size bottle is perfect for my needs👍

Honestly not a massive fan of R-tech, good reviews and good warranty and customer service but I don't think it's good enough compared to mainline brands such as Miller, Lincoln, Migatronic, ESAB, Kemppi, Thermal Arc and Fronius, I'm still using 20 year old Kemppi TIG welding machines at work who the only problems ever had have been the TIG torches breaking, never had a problem with the welding plants themselves. Obviously the price reflects this as those mainline brands are pretty pricey and the R-tech compared to them is dirt cheap. You get what you pay for and can't fault R-tech for a hobby welder or a garage welder for the occasional bits and bobs every 2 or 3 months or so.

Yeah it would be nice if it worked as you were setting the power instead of when you are welding. I suppose it gives your mates something to look at when doing that welding job for them🤣

@@TheYorkshireMix yeh I can't fault the weld quality when it's set up But it's not even got numbers on the dial 🤦 Maybe small things but they would speed or atleast make setting it up easier
