My ELA teacher kinda does that, as to where she specifies her responses. If someone asks, _"May_ I go to the bathroom?" They get a, "Yes, you may." Same goes with can. My Science teacher, however, absolutely trolled a kid when he said, _"Can_ I go to bathroom?" She said, "Yes, you _can."_ The kid gets up to grab a hall pass and go, and she says, "I didn't say you could leave to go." And he gives her this look of, _I can't believe I got duped by an Indian woman in her late 40s_
