I’ve just bought the 700 ascent wide - great bag for larger ladies who are side sleepers … and means I have room for my fleece liner and clothes as needed. Had an atlas I bought 24 years ago which I am finally retiring after a lot of abuse. Only comment really is that the cord for the ascent hood and baffle should be thicker like on the atlas. It’s a bit thin and cheap. Ditto the toggles. Lovely loft on the ascent … should be easy to roll over now in the night with the ascent. Rab quality great as always. Will be interesting to see what the atlas looks like after it comes back from Rab after it’s wash … great service which is another great benefit of buying Rab which is often not mentioned as they don’t wash any other brand than Rab bags.

Thank you for the honest review. I have seen many videos but they were all kind of lacking on the "immediate experience" part. I like it when people share their experiences right away. I am planning on getting a RAB for me and my husband because I have heard that you can also zip them together to form a double sleeping bag. We will use them in the Alps from April to October, at around some 2000+ - 3000m altitude. I still couldn't decide if RAB 500 would do the job as well, also Phantom -9C from Mountain Hardware confuses me. I am gonna pick one of these three.

Thank you, great video, I am convinced. May I ask though, I am using a trekology UL80 mat, which is non insulated. Although I recognise this needs upgrading next, what do you think the temp limit would be using this bag on a non insulated mat ?

poor zipper design, snags and tears the bag itself which then leaks down. Avoid Rab. Western Mountaineering from USA is the best.
