If we cannot separate art from the artist I guess I’ll have to throw away every single book I have. I mean, nobody's perfect. People have different backgrounds and many flaws. If tomorrow I discover that Leonardo da Vinci was racist or that J. R. R. Tolkien had anti-semitic ideas, does that means that all of a sudden the Mona Lisa and The Lord of The Rings would have no vallue?! Give me a break 🤦🏻‍♂️

@B. De Campo I kindly disagree with you. We can seperate art from the artist. What the relation of the artist to his art is of how he created it is not important. It is important to the artist. He created his art presumably for a reason and with a certain intent. The reason I find in the artwork however may differ greatly from his reason or intent. That does not make the artwork less important to me. I personally have a relation to the artwork. Which will shape my view of the art. If the art does not invoke some response in me it is worthless to me. Another point I would like to add is that of many artist we know nothing to very little. As an example I would name Shakespeare of whom is known not that much. Still to appreciate his work we do not need the know about the person who wrote the plays. We can enjoy his art without this knowledge.

This is what sublime idiocy looks like. This person should be banned from consuming any art. Her line of thinking will lead us to a new dark age.

Well I like art by some right questionable characters but by the same token there are some artists that I have a great admiration for as people but simply do not like their art.

U keep bringing up the worst crimes in this but what about if an artist steal something dose that make all art they ever created immoral? Or what about if they where a supporter of slavery in Ancient Greece something that was hugely acceptable at the time is there art now immoral? nether dose it make there art about stealing or slavery.

Woody Allen is NOT married to his step-daughter. Jesus, how many times does this need to be said? If you cant get the most basic facts right, why should we trust what you say on anything else?

Ok so what about art that deals with horrific subjects, or sculptures like Gian Lorenzo Bernini depicting the rape of Proserpina by Pluto

This is joke. Can we separate the women from the butchery of the own innocent babies? That’s a more appropriate question.
