Dean seems embarrassed of his dad. I feel like maybe we should give dean a break about what he did in paradise. He lost his mom when he was younger and his dad went off on his own not even trying to understand his kids feelings about it. I think when you don’t have that connection and guidance that parents provide for you, it definitely messes you up in a lot of ways. It effects your future relationships and all that.

rachel is the only bachelorette who could have handled this situation as gracefully and respectfully as she did. she didnt just get through it, she actually tried to empathize and understand his family, and she wholeheartedly engaged in all the activities without acting weird about them.

This is my favorite hometown date of all. I think it's the most real and raw of how family relationships can be. I really loved dean in that season, and still, and this just made him more interesting in my eyes. Life isn't always perfect and communications not always clear and fair. This was in a way beautiful.

If he hasn't seen his dad for 2 years why the hell would he want to bring her to see him and on national tv to boot?

The dad evaded into his own world because of the pain. He is very lonely and he is still hurting for the past, it is clear that he loved his wife and the family they had together. Once she was gone, he didn't know what to do and he wasn't strong enough to be there for his kids, so he isolated himself inwards, he reinvented himself into whatever image of a spiritual person he had. The kids suffered tremendously in the process because they lost not just the mom, but also the dad they knew. It is selfish for the dad to not put himself in his kids' shoes. But I do understand that he is still suffering and doesn't know himself how to deal with his complex emotions. So he shouldn't expect Dean to do it. He should admit his faults and ask for forgiveness. But it's always easy to "see" this from the outside. It is hard to self-criticize and self-correct.

The hurt emotion in Deans eyes throughout this entire meeting just crushes me 😓💔

His father sucks as a person. He was there financially but not emotionally and acts clueless. Poor Dean and I bet he misses his mother every day!

I just started watching & already I feel bad for Dean. What is wrong with parents that go off on a selfish tangent, your kids still need you. You can see the hurt on Dean’s face. I agree this was not healthy of the show to embarrass him. The dad made it all about him, because he is a narcissist. The name he gave himself speaks volumes. Maybe he had a breakdown after his wife died. Still you can’t go off when your kids lose their mom, they need you even more. Sounds like from the sister that dysfunction goes way back. Oh, then the dad says I must be a great dad! And I can’t understand your frustration, about me not being there for you at 15. His whiny voice grated on my nerves. Then he turned it on his son with that BS that what you think of me, you think of yourself, then Mr. all loving says “whatever” to his son. I bet real Sikhs that love their kids, don’t treat their children that way. Nor do they appreciate him representing their faith or culture.

When I watched this live, it broke my heart. I was so sad when dean and Rachel didn’t work out, but they weren’t meant for each other. I’m glad that they both found people that make them happy now. 💜

Being a Sikh myself...This has nothing to do with Sikhism..but I respect his spirituality...I am no one to judge ..only Waheguru knows ...hes probably a better Religious person then me...but I feel hes more of a Sufi...more importantly the father and son needed to communicate..they needed a heart to heart and let their feelings out..they were being passive ...glad they spoke..never underestimate the power of comminication...they both have pented up there feelings... Omg I am so sorry Dean. My mom passed away when I was 8, I can’t even imagine not having my dad their for me, he is my best friend to this day, and I can’t imagine not having a great relationship with my dad after my mom’s passing.

As someone who has lost their mother at a young age and living with a man of a man, I can completely understand where this father is coming from. I think he is trying to do the best he can, I had a lot of anger with my dad too but it’s really just everyone’s personal process to heal. As an adult I can look back on our journey and give sympathy to him because It was obviously not an easy road to navigate

It is injustice to identify his Father with Sikhism, Guru Nanak Devji was totally against rituals/superstitions/dogmas and so called religious ceremonies. Come to the Guru with humility/humbleness and ask for forgiveness and then the Guru will bless/ guide you.
