I have seen Vondráček play this concerto live from the 7th row in 2023 in Brussels, and there is simply no word to describe how powerful, how intensely violent 8:34 was. Lukáš jumping up and down on the piano, everything so incredibly loud and raging, you feel attacked by all these music and suddenly just want to hide in your seat. You must see it live to understand what it feels like, and this moment will become engraved in your memory; if your house isn't shaking, you're not listening to it properly

its been a long time since someone gave me chills playing this Concerto. Always the same boring performances. This gives me Sokolov vibes a lot. Masterful. A little fast in some parts for my liking but...much prefer that to all these boring drag performances with no intonation, no style and NO SOUL. Amazing. BRAVO

The definitive Concours rendition of this piece for me. Came here after listening to Yunchan Lim, who incidentally also played with the marvelous Marin Elsop. Yunchan is masterful and highly impressive, but for me, I can hear he's younger than Lukasz. Vondracek is more lived, mature, yet still original and playful. Every time I experience his performances, it's like the world disappears and I can only hear, listen and see him. He has just released a CD with him playing all of Rachmaninoff's piano concertos and Paganini - highly recommended.

I remember seeing this on my large screen PC. The Belgium TV had a special chatroom. All of us present in that chatroom were convinced we saw the grand piano move backwards while Lucas played ! Just great. And Mrs. Marin Alsop who so loved all those young pianists, she is always brilliant. Beautiful video, thank you. (Holland)

First rate. This fellow makes you want to listen again to an overplayed piece. His ability to properly voice those thick chords in the cadenza, is quite extraordinary. Most pianists there tend to tire a bit there, and that's when the banging starts. As for the troll on this thread, what are you gonna do? There's always one.

Unusual interpretation by conductor and soloist. Truly exceptional, if not definitive for what the Rach 3rd demands. Love the fluidity, phrasing, and tempi. It's almost as if the music is spontaneously emerging from the minds of the orchestra and pianist. I broke a sweat listening to this.

@@benediktschlegel8233 Have you looked into the profile of this guy? Looks like he is a professional pianist. And you? I guess you are a boring accountant that is frustrated with his job and is working his frustration off on people that like the the Rach 3 video's of Vondracek. I think that the guy is perfectly capable to understand musical expression, your experience and knowledge on the subject however is very debatable. Looks like my metaphor about the couch potato talking about sports was spot on. I am laughing my ass off here seeing you fail to convince actual knowledgeable people that your 'opinion' (or 'facts' as you call it) is correct.

@@koenbaens1428 don't deviate this discussion by talking about my professional situation. I am happy to be away from classical music, especially here in Flanders in Belgium where the music education is a big tragedy, comparing to the neighbour countries. I am not frustrated in my actual job. I love listening to classical music, especially to the right versions.

@@benediktschlegel8233 I did not deviate anything in this discussion, I just tricked you in telling me that you are not a professional musician. This actually means that I was right all along. You have little to no knowledge and experience in the field and that renders a lot of your statements invalid. Including the one about education, at least if you are talking below the conservatoire levels. Our 'Academies' are actually a lot better then the music schools in the Netherlands for example. Not sure what your goal is here but you probably have no idea that everyone with actual musical knowledge is laughing at you. Still waiting on those bars with the rhythmical errors btw, or are you not even capable to read a score?
@benediktschlegel8233
@benediktschlegel8233 2 жыл бұрын
@@koenbaens1428 the mistakes in the main theme and the pushing of the horn in the beginning are clear mistakes which destroy the continuation of that masterpiece. The treatment of the horn player in the beginning was inhuman. Further I can show you a lot of details where he lost sound and where he put wrong accents which destroy the musical production. It's difficult to put all the mistakes here because of the big length (at least two pages). He can play piano but I need to hear more. What a joke to hear from you that the Flemish Academies are better than music education elsewhere. Singing perfect intervals and rhythm in a metronome are just insane. Brass section is on a good level, but strings and piano are a big disaster. I have learned wrong things from wrong teachers. I am hearing a lot of symphonies and other master pieces, conducted by maestro Celibidache. That's just music in a right tempo. By hearing that, I can say that a lot of conductors haven't any idea about the philosophy of the composers and about the small details of one composition. The same for some soloists who think technique and right notes are more important than music.

@@martadrechsler4441 I don't need to show you anything because there are a lot of versions to be played correctly within the vision of Rachmaninov. This version of Vondracek is a real daytime soap opera which is completely revolting. Here I hear a lot of issues like unrhythmical playing, no relaxing, no story, no architecture, no clear harmony, no clear balance, no sound, no sculpture, no singing, etc. I only hear some short fast phrasings.
