At the Instructional Coaching Group our focus is on doing what it takes to improve the quality of kids’ lives by having them experience better teaching. Coaching is a way in which we can provide support to teachers to dramatically improve teaching. But, what are the practices those teachers work on? That's where High Impact Instruction comes in, and these are the strategies that have the best chance of improving teaching. The instructional strategies mentioned in this course increase engagement and learning. The result of Jim Knight's research exploration and development was a simple framework - the Big Four, addressing Content Planning, Formative Assessment, Instruction, and Community Building.
