If I am a classroom teacher looking to transition to an instructional coach position, what is the 1st thing you would recommend I do?

Hi Candice, reading The Definitive Guide to Instructional Coaching would be a great place to start. www.instructionalcoaching.com/books/the-definitive-guide-to-instructional-coaching-seven-factors-for-success We also have a great asynchronous video course hosted by Michelle Lis on our Radical Learners platform that answers this question and more. www.radicallearners.com/courses/designing-and-supporting-great-instructional-coaching-programs

Well stated. Do not judge, treat others as equals, and do not put yourself up higher than others, or lower than others.

I really liked the way you discussed the intersection between cognitive science and moving schools forward. You also demonstrated that there are basic learning processes that are for student learners AND adult learners. That was terrific by itself! Thanks!

Coaching Football and seeing the athletes eyes and their smiles makes my bad days disappears, it's the same when I am in a classroom with teachers/students! I look forward to each day because I have a purpose!

Teacher's goals and not the Academic coach's, a teacher has change with-in themselves like " If it's to be...It's up to Me!

Confidentiality has saved my bacon many times, however, there's been times when the Admin. and teacher broke their confidentiality on what the other had to say about me, hoping that I would break my confidentiality with them, but NO...silence is a killer.

Outstanding! Maybe another question could be "What miracle have you experience while teaching"?

Waking up every morning blessed with all of my faculties that enable me to be dynamic every day. That is the miracle. The fact that we rise every morning knowing that people say they appreciate us ...yet their actions say otherwise.

My education professor at Baker University once told me teachers should always "adjust" to any situation in creating and reflecting on teaching and adapt to changes along the way.

So, what will be the most effective way that I should be introduced to our team? Specifically, I'm coming into a district with a lot of resentment 😮... sorry I'm at a loss

Hello! The planner is a digital download and doesn't require shipping. It should cost $20 USD and be downloadable immediately. If you have questions about any of our products, feel free to email [email protected] and we'd be happy to assist.

Any suggestions on coaching teachers with ELLs(English Language Learners)?
@InstructionalCoachingGroup3 жыл бұрын
Hi Laura! Without know the specifics of your situation, we would say that the coaching process shouldn’t be much different because the goal is teacher-driven based on the student’s needs. So if the teacher works with ELL students, it will influence the goal they set during the coaching cycle, but not in a way that would be any different from any other teacher.

I'm always heartened by Jim's emphasis on the dignity of each human being and his awareness of the power dynamics between and among us. He reminds me of the importance of the work we do.
