* They think they may have found the historical Moses. He was a man by the name of *Senenmut.* He was the High Steward for Thutmosis II and for Hatshepsut(daughter of Thutmosis I, and the princess who drew Moses out of the ark basket made of papyrus reeds. Which is interesting because reeds, and another ark came into play later). It is possible that "Moses" was Senenmut's throne name, and Senenmut was his personal name. His throne name would've been "Thutmosis", but he did not worship "Thoth". * So he would've dropped the "Thut" part of the name, leaving only "Mosis". He instead worshipped the same god as "Yuya"(the powerful Courtier and King's Lieutenant of Amenhotep III), which was the god known as "Yahweh", "El", "Elohim", "El Shaddai" or "Adonai". This is why the last 2 letters of Yu's name is "Ya"(as in "Yahweh"). Senenmut would've only ruled when Hatshepsut was pharaoh, and only during times when she was feeling to ill to carry out her responsibilities. It is believed that Thutmosis III was the pharaoh of the Exodus. * The volcano of the island of Santorini is believed to have violently erupted between 1458 BC - 1425 BC, causing the 10 biblical plagues(which can all be explained now with the volcano theory, but how did Moses know precisely when the effects of the volcano would take place, where, and precisley what they would be, in what order? He was told.....by someone. God, presumably). They have also found archaeological evidence for the "real" Mt. Sinai, actually being located in Saudi Arabia. A mountain called "Jabal al-Lawz". * They discovered that there were 2 crossings of the Red Sea(so to speak). There was the first crossing at "The Sea of Reeds"(Yam Suph), better know as "Lake El Balah" north of the Gulf of Suez. They found the actual route Moses took across the Sinai Peninsula to the "Wadi Watir" and the "Nuweibaa Beach" where the 2nd crossing of the Red Sea took place across the Gulf of Aqaba to Saudi Arabia. Back in those day they were not called the Gulf of Suez and the Gulf of Aqaba. They were simply considered to be a part of the Red Sea. * They also found the oasis with the 70 palm trees and the 12 wells. They also found the split rock, the cave of Elijah(on the side of Jabal al-Lawz), the altars, the pillars, the stables, a dried up river, the mass grave and more. It has been said that the Ark of the Covenant's basic design vaguely resembles an electric capacitor, and that its dimensions would allow it to fit very nicely into the king's sarcophagus in the king's chamber of the great pyramid. They may have known that the great pyramid was a power plant of some kind, and placing the ark in the sarcophagus of the king's chamber might have assisted in some way in helping them to get the pyramid to function once again, but may have been abandoned the attempt when they realized how much effort, and how many things they would need to accomplish this, not even knowing whether it would work after all of that effort. * It is believed that pharaoh "Khufu" attempted to renovate the great pyramid(from 2566 BC - 2589 BC) in an effort to get it to function once again, strongly implying that he did not build it. It is now believed that it was probably built around 10500 BC(if not earlier). It is believed that for all these long millennia, the original Ark of the Covenant is most likely located behind a wall, in an ancient cistern beneath the Temple Mount adjacent to the Western Wall(Wailing Wall) in Jerusalem, but no one dare excavate that wall, or it would literally start a religious war that would explode into mass killings, shootings, bombings, and in the end, the ark would probably be destroyed anyways in all of that violence and mayhem. All in the name of religion. How nice.

I think they should also investigate whether Thutmosis III was, in fact, the pharaoh of the Exodus. One of the reasons why there's so much debate over where the Red Sea crossing was, is because there was 2 crossings. At the Sea of Reeds where they crossed from Egypt onto the Sinai Peninsula(north of the Gulf of Suez), and again when they crossed from the Sinai Peninsula to Saudi Arabia. * As it turns out, the worship of the golden calf, was the worshipping of a god called "Ba'al"(as in "Ba'al Zebub" The Lord of Flies). He was one of "El's" children. Just like Yahweh was one of "El's" children. Don't worry, Yahweh is not the name of God. Christians and Jews both agree that God's name is "Jehovah". Don't believe me? Ask 'em. It's possible that Jehovah and El are one and the same. I think the ark would've been found, and presented to the world if it wasn't such a sensitive subject. * If archaeologists would be permitted to excavate where they *should* be excavating for the ark, it would be found, but if they excavate in the correct location, it will most likely trigger a religious war, where countless people would be killed in the name of religion by the time everything is said and done. I think that's why the ark hasn't been found or presented to the world yet. There's still too many ignorant people running around who are willing to *kill* for their religion.

Actually, that joke was something that Spielberg had attempted to include in his films since 1941 (1979). It didn’t work in that film and it got cut for that reason. So, Spielberg decided to put the joke in every film he did after 1941, until it stayed.

Spielberg and Lucas were aiming to pay homage to the serials of their childhoods; they paid homage to numerous aspects of those movies, everything from the 'bad guy' looking over his magazine as Indy boarded the plane to the use of maps to portray the movement of the characters to, yes, shadow play.

John Rhys-Davies (Sallah) and Denholm Elliott (Brody) both were very established UK character actors in movies when Raiders was released. Elliott was seen by more movie-goers in the 3rd Indy movie, and especially with supporting roles in two very different 1980s films, Trading Places (Eddie Murphy, Dan Ackroyd, Jamie Lee Curtis, etc), and A Room With A View (a Merchant-Ivory production, also starring Maggie Smith, Judi Dench, Daniel Day-Lewis, Helena Bonham Carter, etc). He had a strong background on the British stage, too. As for Rhys-Davies, aside from 2 Indy movies, and several James Bond films, he may be best known for The Lord of the Rings franchise (Gimli), and he has been in a huge number of movies and TV shows.

Princess Leia was also super young when she got together with Han Solo, respectively Carrie Fisher was very young when she had an affair with mid-thirties Harrison Ford^^. Seems to be a thing with him

I've mentioned this in other comments but I know a lot of people who saw Temple of Doom first in the 80s and then caught Raiders on HBO later, but Temple was their first movie in a theater because at the time they were too young to see Raiders in the theater but their parents took them to see Temple of Doom. For me they are interchangeable. I know some people who saw Crystal Skull as their first Indiana Jones movie, lol. But I personally enjoy them more in chronological order and both do a great job of setting up the character.

Well I can understand if somebody saw Crystal skull in the theater first since they weren't even alive back then but Raiders and Temple were only like 3 years apart. I was 10 years old when I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark in the theater when it came out. Even back then I knew it was the guy that played Han Solo. Star wars came out a few years prior to that and obviously it was huge . Just saying, in my opinion, introduction to the character/franchise would be Raiders instead of Temple of Doom.

The Ark was special, this was like the seat of God where he would come in his Shekinah Glory when the Ark was in the tent for the Ark or the Temple of Solomon. Only the high priest could enter the area where the Ark was and only once a year. There was even a certain group of priests who could handle carrying the Ark and when one of them touched the Ark when it was about to fall over, that priest died.

Star Wars is definitely better release order to a certain point - like I think the best way to watch Star Wars now is Original Trilogy, Prequel Trilogy and then chronological from there, i.e. Obi Wan, Solo, Andor, Rogue One, Rewatch the original trilogy and then Mando thru Rise. But with the Indiana Jones, outside of the holster joke, it is better for Indy’s character to start with Temple of Doom - i kind of love that he’s introduced as an homage to James Bond because that’s who he was for Lucas and Spielberg. And we knew it wouldn’t work out with Willie so relinking with Marion and also putting the WWII saga back to back. I know a lot of kids growing up who actually saw Temple of Doom first because VHS wasn’t as prolific in the early 80s so it was catch it on TV or maybe HBO or Showtime but you saw what was in theaters and my friend always loved that he saw Temple first and that’s always stuck with me. Hence the experiment!

Actually it was a tribute to stuntman Yakima Canutt who did the same stunt in the 1939 film Stagecoach. Very dangerous then as well with a 6 horse team at full gallop, and unlike the stunt in this movie, they did not dig a trench to give him more room under the coach.
