That level crossing issue at Merri wasn't a power outage. It was a track circuit failure that was affecting the level crossing and holding the automatic signal at stop. Driver performed rule 1, section 3 to pass it and continued on.

Looks like something is wrong with one of the Ruthven gate lights too - it's not shutting off fully. Maybe a faulty relay contact or something?

The railroad crossing I go to is East 305th street in Willowick Ohio USA, when an eastbound freight train is going too slow, the gates will sometimes time out

Not sure I'd class a timeout as a malfunction. And the crossing remaining on at Cliff St., Portland wasn't a malfunction either. I mean it's a teardrop bell, holding on for dear life and it's gonna keep going for as long as it possibly can. :)

I guess it depends what you would call a malfunction, in my opinion it is when a crossing either is broken or goes off without a train passing though Portland, I think it’s operated by a Ute that follows the train, so there’s a high chance the button didn’t work when the operator tried to turn it off, and because the circuitry is old it won’t automatically turn off

@@TazzieTransport I knew what you meant of course. It was just that to my way of thinking, the crossing is supposed to activate when a train approaches. But the train stops and after a time, the booms go up and signals stop - which they are designed to do. And then activate again when the train starts moving. So everything is working how it is supposed to, therefore not really a malfunction. But certainly an oddity. If you've watched any of the European level crossing channels, you'll have seen how the booms can be down for 5-10 minutes before the train arrives. And I understand why that happens, but how many drivers do? I think having them stop and restart later is a better idea.

I'm guessing the Elmhurst malfunction is because the power failure caused the hold-clear solenoid to fail, thereby letting the gates come down?

Pyrenees Highway's Railway crossing doesnt look like it has any line going through it, unless Rainbow Road goes Through it & you see a bunch of nintendo charaters in go karts drive by. Edit: nvm theres a rail behind it.

This video shows which is the most abused level crossing in Melbourne. First the crossing is put on the removal list. Then the signage gets removed/stolen and now the light got open.

It’s really sad now neglected it is, like it’s always more and more broken every time I visit. I just went to get pics the other day and found the light open, wasn’t even planning on getting a clip lol

I saw a malfunction on Osborne Rd, North Haven in SA. The Railcar was at Osborne Station, but the crossing wasn't going off. No lights, no bell, no Boomgates.
