Thanks for showing us how to do this. The Rainbird tool is cheap, but very helpful both in making adjustments and in lifting the head and central part of the rotor out of the body to set the left point( i.e. where the rotor starts moving from the left to the right). It may just be me, but in the narration it seems like you got your "clockwise" and "counter-clockwise" directions confused with each other, i.e. backwards. Thanks for making this video.

With a rainbird 5000 u set the left first. Use channel locks with water running. Get a hold of it under where it spins(shaft). Don't squeeze too hard with the channel locks. Once left is established it is now time to set the right. There is a plus and minus dial on top of the head. Plus means more to the right and minus means less to the right. Once the right has been adjusted now it is time to fan the water. Stick screwdriver in the arrow. Without adjustment the water ark will look like St Louis arch. Not cool. Screw down set screw so that it knocks down the water and widens for better coverage. The set screw does two things. One it holds the nozzle in place. Two it adjusts the pattern of the water. Don't screw the set screw too far down. It will come out, pressure from the water will blow nozzle and set screw out. If that happens good luck trying to find that set screw in the grass. I like to do all this with the water running. Then I like to observe without touching it. The adjustments you make by hand are one thing. It is slightly different when the water is doing the work.

I was having an issue. I have a few that give me issues but one or two in particular. The one is right by a storage shed and I just saw it is hitting my shed on the right side, and is warping the wood and damaged the paint. I need to try and get the right to stop so it does not hit the shed. But I need it to go to the right a wider distance. Hopefully I can figure this out.

This is all good and a great help, but there is a lot of turning right and left. Where are you pointing to? Maybe you should start with a physical description of the top and what each inscription does. That would help.

hello thanks for this.just got an old 5000 sprinkler. instead of turn left right left right many times, what about just loosen collar,take riser outturn the nozzle to where you want left start of arch, then drop riser back in housing and mesh plastic earthen adjust arch as necessary from there? thanks john

You dont have to go all the way around counterclockwise to reset left stop. just go to your right stop point and twist the same way, moves your left point clockwise

Also clean your nozzles annually. A clogged nozzle can decrease performance and in worse a case scenario it may have to be removed, disassembled and cleaned.

Rainbird is do freaking complicated. I still can't fix mine after 2 yr😭

I have two Rainbird 5000. 9 years old. And they pop up and water comes out, but they do not turn left or right, and do not rotate. My other 5 are perfect. I need instructions please, I have read so much and not located this problem.
