Norm’s entire character and the na’vi culture : the true victims of the deleted scenes

THEY ACTUALLY HAD A SCENE WITH THE OMATI S'AMPTA?! THE BLUE FLUTE?! THE THING THE OMATICAYA IS NAMED AFTER?! WHY DOES THIS FILM ELIMINATE SO MUCH OF ITS OWN LORE?!

Man, this is one of my favorite deleted scenes, especially seeing Trudy being allowed into the war camp and explaining (With Jake's help) how they can 'kill' the gunships.

The deleted scenes make both Trudy and Norm such great characters. It’s a shame the film doesn’t have that as much.

They should of kept this in the movie it’s interesting to see the Na’vi / Avatars interact with a human

I think it’s cool how you can see a difference in the dance styles. Before it was more happy and celebratory. They moved like birds playing and relaxed. Now they are moving like hunting birds in a way. I hope that makes sense.

They should make an Avatar special where they have fully animated and rendered ALL the deleted scenes, than later add them on a special disc where you can see what they would have looked like if they were left in the film. I bet they’d make lots of money if they did that. ;)

I like how the origin of the name Omaticaya is canonically never seen, but is right at the beginning of this scene and I mean they could have at least put the trumpet leaning against a wall or something in the cuts that made it in

Another thing to take note of are the other old military phrases such as “The Fires of War”, “A Storm is Coming”, and “A Sea of Blood”. I once heard from a seperate video that a lot of the instruments created for the Avatar lore were all over the place. Cameron designed what he thought was a flute like a instrument when an expert corrected him saying that it would sound more like a trumpet. She even created some sounds that would replicate what the music and instruments would sound like fully played and designed. Cameron apparently wasn’t too found of what was produced and just went with Western music instruments and sounds for the soundtrack. Looking at this, that’s probably why this scene was cut. They would have to create and design new instruments along with an entirely new soundtrack.

I don't understand why they cut all these important scenes out, okay if people are gonna point out that it's gonna get longer, I'm totally fine with that, do you guys remember lord of the rings? I think it was longer than 3 hrs! one of the trilogy if I remember correctly.

If it weren't for all the pre-production madness/glory James Cameron delved into, we wouldn't even have these renders from deleted scenes. It's thanks to his preparation of many textures and models before shooting which enabled a live-simulation rendering technique. That meant that filmed scenes could go from a rough draft to a slightly more comprehensible render faster, because more work was done before the shooting started. We wouldn't have well-fleshed out deleted scenes like this if it weren't for Cameron's preparedness.

I am so gutted this scene didn't make it into any final cuts. It is absolutely fantastic and we even get to see the blue flute... the very thing the Omatikaya are named for.

I find it interesting how Sam was using his Australian accent as the voice over, kind of helps you get an idea of the lengths that they go to in the production process for these scenes

They should not have taken the part out where Sully teaches them about the aeroplanes. The party part is good too but I could understand that.

This scene is so powerful! Seeing Na’vi examine the ship is cool to me. (Especially them never being able to do this till that moment)

Ok this should definitely have stayed in the cut! Very fitting, very good vibe, progressing the plot forward in a good transition!

I hope that they finish all of this stuff someday. I will gladly watch a 5 hour cut. In all of the deleted scenes there are elements that add cohesion that was missing from the original theatrical cut.

Man it hurts to see all these cut scenes. I've yet to see a deleted scene that isn't great. I get that pacing is important but I think with all these the movie would be elevated. They just give little hints of character that could make everyone shut the fuck up about the movie being 'badly written' which is nonsense.

Yea its this type of stuff which makes duel blade helicopters inferior to regular single blade helicopters. Even if you blow up the engine or tail on a normal helicopter the blade is designed to glide the vehicle down keeping the passengers. Its pretty difficult to damage the regular blade as its thin and long, everything just gonna ricochet unless you've got some serious mass behind it. And theoretically, a duel bladed isnt going to be more agile. Helicopters already are incredibly agile.
