British ex-pat's tend to get more posh sounding over time - they get the 'colonial' accent - I think it's a kind of compensation for being surrounded by foreign sounds, one becomes a representative of Britishness and have to keep the illusion that all Englishmen have castles alive.

sort of true, but not quite for that reason. Its just that when youre surrounded by or talk to a lot of foreigners who's first language isnt english, you try and make yourself as clear as possible. For someone like connor who already has a posh accent it just gets stronger, for me, a scottish person, i just go sorta american.

Getting off their face in another country is their idea of a good time, so they go to Ibiza, Magaluf, Benidorm, etc and cause havoc. These people are largely the reason why there's a kind of running joke/tacit assumption amongst the British that we're universally hated abroad. Because they make such a spectacle of themselves, they're also great click farming for Spanish news, which helps reinforce the narrative that this is what we're all like.

I feel like in the case of rubberross it has to have been partly intentional. Like, I think he actively tried to sound American, and drop his original voice, because there are like no remnants of that accent.

Yeah like sometimes people dont have that strong of an accent anyway despite where they were raised, and his mum has much more of an accent that's approaching Chester/ Liverpool than north Welsh. But hes not got that and he's absolutely killed his welsh accent speaking English and it has to have been on purpose or at least as a rsult of doing voices..

EDIT: Found it. "Do you even voice act podcast #1: Casting" Enjoy. (Accent is not really welsh at all though, or at least so I'm told) ---- Fr there is a podcast on youtube where Connor has like a charmelon pfp (i dont know the actual Pokemon's name leave me alone) and he speaks in such a nice, creamy welsh accent, haha. Im sad he's lost it.
