Nice model, didn't see the display working. Maybe it has a dot matrix? If you can find a blueprint of that board it is probably easy to have it custom made so you can move most maybe all components to it. I have a similar idea making new boards for a N2521. In these older decks everything is super simple. A dedicated Nerd could easily make a single board to replace all.

Bought 2 new from Radio Shack One would still record but not playback it was well cared for and stopped Playback right after warranty ran out. Three months. When working it was great. Used it to record from an 8 channel Stereo Mixing Board Using Headphones To monitor. When Digital was still new Produced some very clean live recordings. Like other electronics, when they fully Functional they are Great.

It was a Tandy inhouse brand along with many others they used

Tandy / Radio Shack used it at first as a brand for speakers, then later as a premium brand for their top level stereo equipment.

In the original DCC900 repair video you use regular capacitors to replace the SMD capacitors. In this video you use SMD capacitors again. Any thoughts on that?
@DRDCC2 жыл бұрын
If possible we always use SMD, to restore and make it look like the resto never happened.

Can probably do it very carefully Not that skilled or experienced with replacing caps. Would prefer more skilled Electronics tech who knows what they are Doing to perform the task. Is it that they use Cheap caps in mass manufacturing? And is there a cap that doesnt end up leaking they could have used to begin with? Or All caps end up leaking over time? One other question Is it harmful to leave device powered on that the turning on/ and off over time?

@@nicksavage4763 Hi, If they would have used regular Capacitors (like in the 2nd generation DCC players), we would not have these problems. All early 90ies electronics, using the first generations of SMD suffer from this. It is not just DCC. They found out nearly 10 years later these started to leak. Todays capacitors are much, much better and would not cause these problems. Not sure what the question is about on-off, but feel free to ask any question at forum.dccmuseum.com

@@DRDCC Thank You. The on/off had to do with Recording Studio Equipment and something I was told that Probably makes no difference at all. As in Stereo amps used to power monitors Nowdays most monitors have Amps built in. They used to leave them turned on overnight. Dont remember if they were tube Or solid state.

Great job! 12:07 Why did you blur out part of the audio board? Something we're not allowed to see?

A small error in the video layer. No secrets lol.

@@DRDCC Haha, okay. I already thought it was a bit awkward because when it disappeared we could see it anyway 😎

Our DCT2000 On display is perfect as well. We have found the problem on this one as well as we managed to visit the Tandy Developer last week. I saw your video a long time ago. Great job.
