These Signatory un chill filters series bottles are a great value! I have a couple of these that are flora and fauna distillerys and while the F&F bottles are 43% chill filtered and colored these are 46% NCF NC and $10 or more less than the F&F bottles. Cheers.

I honestly like Coal Ila, any of the bottlings. And yeah I get that salty brine, it reminds me of northern cold water oysters.

@ralfy - I'm such a cask anorak that I'm sure you had a speck on your steampunker when you read the cask number. Pretty sure this is casks 316315/316317 and not 316015/316017. I got me one and I'm pleased with the review. And I also got a bottle from casks 316318/316319 with the same distillation date, bottled 2 months later. but this is at least two shades darker in color. Think I will need to open both at the same time to compair them. The beauty of single casks; the endless variation making even an average whisky into a unique experience.

I'm excited! I have a bottle of this that I picked up last year during a vacation to Scotland (from Oklahoma, US). I snagged it in Oban IIRC. Mine was Bottled on Nov 24, 2017. Casks 318817 & 318818. Matured in Hogsheads barrels. Caol Ila 12 is my favorite malt (it's not quite what it was several years ago, but I still love it)! My bottle has the least amount of color I can imagine. Significantly lighter than Ralfy's. In the glass it pretty much looks like water.

Yes, Del Maguey's Chichicapa. I have a cask strength bottle of 8yo Caol Ila, and it has that same mezcal note. It's great! I quite love it, too much to actually drink it (since I can't get another bottle). XD

It is extremely rare to spot a bottle of Signatory in the USA. I'm in Rhode Island and can't name anywhere around here that stocks Signatory.

I am in Portsmouth. Totalwine don't stock it and neither does Town Wine in Rumford or Vickers in Newport.

I love the Sea notes of Caol Ila 8yo, but it leaves me in want of more smoke. The mouth feel is lovely for an 8yo I find.

Great review, as always. Question for you: how would you compare or contrast with Port Askaig 8, which seems to be essentially the same thing? Would love to hear your opinion!

Same here Egr Sok. I would love to hear Ralfy's opinion on PA 8yo. I have a bottle and have lots of mixed feeling about it. The nose is definitely Caol Ila, but the arrival and development is more like Ardberg. I wonder if the Caol Ila was matured in Ardberg cask! This is quite possible, right? A few Ralfy reviews ago he predicted the PA 10 yo was Caol Ila matured in Lagavulin cask. Maybe PA is playing with Caol Ila in casks from different Islay distilleries. What do you think?

Ralfy, have you tried San Cosme Mezcal? Tried it yesterday and was blown away by the fullness of flavour. Almost similar to a young Laphroaig. Very earthy smokiness and lovely sweetness on the palate. Highly recommended. Gonna grab me a few bottles.

I've known of this channel for many years, but have only seen it when looking up bourbons and the very very rare rye that's posted on here. Is this mainly just a scotch channel? Edit- just watched the first minute, and see this is a scotch channel. Bummer. Hope you all are doing well.

Ralfy anychance of a reveiw of 21yr old gran reserve glenfiddich and before u say say yes its 40% but its also natural colour I am getting a bottle for Xmas and it's won gold in all the whisky awards this year 2019
