A version or many can be made from pvc pieces and maybe brass valves. You Tube videos.

Yes however those are not very efficient and often break or require constant maintenance after a short time. The Papa Pumps have and average maintenance time of 2-3 years with spares costing very little and the service etc. all done by the owner of the pump. The lightweight composite Papa pump is also capable of pumping up to 100m vertical and the metal version much more!
