PLOT: Col. Sam Trautman (Richard Crenna) travels to Thailand, hoping to convince veteran John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) to accompany him on a training mission in Afghanistan. When Rambo refuses, Trautman decides to go alone -- but, while trying to help the mujahideen, Trautman is captured by a ruthless Russian colonel (Marc de Jonge) who submits him to torture. Hearing the news, Rambo volunteers for a top secret undercover mission to rescue his longtime friend.

He was in the best shape of his life from 85 to 88 give or take, his late 30's and early 40's. At that age you have to work out twice as hard than when you're young to get ripped. Millennials in their 20s these days taking pictures of themselves ripped have no f*cking idea.

The situation back then was similar to the recent one in Syria. The Yanks called proven thugs & terrorist "moderate opposition" and armed them too. U all are mistaken. What Jim Cameron meant was the US aided the Mujahedeens specifically but not the talibans which was established after the war. The US aided the Mujahedeens but not to talibans when it was founded. That's what he meant.

Supposedly this is a T - 72 tank - and actually Rambo is sitting in the gunner position- most of the systems on that type are automated including the ammo loading...so is nothing impossible here... once you put in gear and push the acceleration ( red lever ) is plausible . If you meet your match who is willing to fly towards you his helicopter straight and low enough when you collide with him you will have a big explosion...and if it is your lucky day you may even survive.

Andrew Song - Rambo is no ordinary soldier - he is a member of Special Forces trained by combat veterans of previous wars. And above that he is survived the jungle hell of Vietnam as member of a Deep Recon Team ,escaped pow camp etc ,etc this is a world difference between him and today standard for soldier training.

I know this movie hasn't aged well but back in the 90s this movie was a super hit. Remember those plastics bag with Rambo firing an RPG, the big old ones? Remember.? This movie kept us entertained.. And I'm still a fan of RAMBO..

If u have better ways to deal with the terrorists for what they did I'm all ears. But if u don't then its justified for Bush to take military action against them. And yes for Obama's case, I agree he should have pulled out after Osama was killed. As for Biden, he did the right thing pulling out but not in an organized manner or in accordance with military procedures, that's why it's chaos.

I remember this battle so vividly. Chuck Norris & I had just got done destroying a nearby village and were enjoying a great slice of pizza, we sat on a mountain top and waited for the odds to swing against Col. Trautman and Johnny, then we stepped in.

Cmon guys it's an 80s movie😄.....it was a always a 1 man action hero vs many..... Action movies today are quite different.....no action star will exergerrate killing hundreds of soldiers. Modern movies are more about stealth kills which makes more sense

No the US special forces know that they won’t be rescued after being captured and plus the US wasn’t even remotely near Rambo at the time of this battle so even if they wanted to rescue him they would’ve been there long after the battle was over

I was served in Afghanistan at the time and was blessed enough to have joined Rambo for this battle. Actually I was the one who saved all the prisoners not Rambo.
