In the mid-late '70s as I was driving my 1966 Mercury (Ford) 1/2 ton truck in Wyoming: - a huge blue sky, pristine air & environment, teeming with wildlife, high plains/plateau, distant mountains: - a local radio station played Ghost Riders In The Sky by the Ramrods: - I was ecstatic, and thought to myself "Is Heaven Like This?". Even now, decades later, whenever I hear it or think of it, I get a nostalgic big psychological boost.

I really like this version, it has a distinctive "Morricone" feel to it!!

It took me 25 years to find this song. I heard it once on the radio, had it on a mix cassette, and lost it again...all without ever knowing the name or artist. When I heard the first notes, I knew this was the song. Thanks!

We play both, country and western, is a Quote from the movie The Blues Brothers. This is a true crossover tune. Great song. Nothing like it. Love this Ramrods version. Great biker song, ride the iron horse. Harley Davidson.

I have loved this song since I heard it as a kid (late 50's--early 60's). It gave me nightmares...and I still loved it. I have heard many versions...some with lyrics, others just instrumentals (with ghostly vocals) , and it still sends chills up my spine...and I still love it!

When the cowboy saw the devil's herd in the sky the realization of what it meant struck him like a bolt of lightning ......America will never be the same........................

Wow, you can really imagine the wild bunch of ghostly riders chasing the devils herd across the clouds, up and down, ignoring time and space as they are captured in their own endless circle...

i have heard almost every version of ghost riders. every one is great in its own rendition. the song is imortal. the artists only enhance its greatness.

This is the only version I heard on the radio back in the early Sixties. My favorite.

This is, by far, the closest to how I pictured it in my imagination. The look and feel of it is bang-on! Now if only one could dub Johnny Cash's haunting voice into it. I think his version is the best done. I've heard most versions out there and he was one of the very few who truely understood how the song ought to feel. The timing and pace of the delivery was the most effective.

Without a doubt the best instrumental version of Ghost Riders in the Sky of all-time.

Seeing as there's about 300 of them and I doubt you've heard them all, all you can say is it's your particular favourite. Mine is Dick Dale's version.

I was just a boy when this song came out. It was, is, and always will be one of the most visual songs ever written. Truly a classic, with brilliant music, and perhaps even more brilliant lyrics.

Have loved this version (with sound effects) since day one when I bought the 45. Duane Eddy's more recent version is really good too. I edited this and at the 22 second mark, when the band comes it, took about 1/20th of a second off one channel. Sounds like it is in a big echo chamber. Awesome!

Good version, has anyone noticed the sampling of "Apache" by The Shadows in the last few seconds of the fade out? I find it quite ironic really...

This is, by far, the closest to how I pictured it in my imagination. The look and feel of it is bang-on! When you look at other paintings inspired by this song, they're usually too bright & sunny. This one truely looks like "a dark and windy day"! Now if only one could dub Johnny Cash's haunting voice into it. I think his version is the best. He was one of the very few who truely understood how the song ought to feel. The timing and pace of the delivery was very effective.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this video. I started booking bands at age 14 in 1960 & booked Little Joe (Hupp) & the Ramrods quite a few times. A very talented band back then. I heard this song long ago at their dances, so happy to learn that they cut records of it. I sure miss my old friends in the Ramrods & hope they all are in fine health to this day. I can not thank you enough for all the work you did for posting this for all to enjoy on KZfaq so many people can enjoy as I have listening to the Ramrods again. You have a great talent for making videos, and I should know as I produced, wrote scripts, directed, and stared in TV films, before I did the same jobs in making movies which were very successful. God Bless!!

Wow! Fine animation! Very fine! Marvelous job of telling the story without a single word! And the music is as haunting as ever! Anyone ever notice that the first two lines of the verse melody are almost identical to the first lines of melody from "When Johnny Comes Marching Home"? Spike Jones made a point of that when he did a parody of this song! Thanks for posting this great video!
