Ramzan festivities in different parts of Bangalore, get more and more vibrant, year by year. Though Frazer Town in Bangalore started this trend of a gala Ramzan celebration and set the hallmark for Ramzan Street food in Bangalore, this year the street food stalls are banned due to the protest from the residents of that vicinity. Hence the focus has shifted to other parts of Bangalore. After Frazer town, the next prominent locality, where the Ramadan festive vibe stay high for a month is Shivaji Nagar. We visited Shivaji Nagar on a Friday evening and it was not as crowded as it was at Fraze r Town, last year. The number of street food stalls were less, but most of the eateries in the Chandini Chowk of Shivaji Nagar, upped the ante to cash in this opportunity.
When it comes to food, Shivaji Nagar eateries will thoroughly satisfy your Ramzan food cravings. Started at Savera Tea shop for crispy chicken and mutton samosas, accompanied by Sulaimani Chai. That was a spectacular start and to further indulge our sweet tooth, had fingerlickingly good Khova Jalebi and Gulab Jamun at Bhuranpur shop. From there walked all the way back to Chandni Chowk to Luma sweets for a creamy Misti Dhoi.
For the meat lovers in us, Hotel Prince catered the best Pal, Seekh Kababs and the friend Chicken Stake and Chicken Shashlik. All these dishes at Prince were simply mind blowing. The shop next door, Al Haleem House serves one of the best Mutton and Chicken Haleem in town. The creamy, non-greasy version of this Haleem was simple but soulful. Ended our Ramzan food trail at Hamza with their iconic Mutton Biryani, Bheja Fry and Mutton Sheekh. Absolutely amazing. Hamza haters, stay away.
Overall, a splendid gastronomic experience. Go around 7 PM and spend 2-3 hours, so that you can leave by 10 PM. After 10, it gets super crowded on the road. For parking, use the multi level parking at the BMTC bus stand, Shivaji nagar.
