Loving the content. I'm a super new player to ONI. I've had the title for a year or more now, but just picked it up, because I knew I'd get deep into the rabbit hole that is ONI. Had 4 or 5 restarts now, and losing control of heat very quickly in a 210+cycle playthrough.

Oh yes, quite the rabbit hole indeed!

Enjoying the content! Just adding that when I have stacked critter farms like this, I dig out from top to bottom - so top farm first do everything for that except the floor, so that when you put the floor in, all the dirt drops down. Instead of ending up with loads of debris in each farm that the critters might like to eat, it all ends up below the farms, and probably closer to your storage area too (if the farms are above the main living areas of course!) - making it less of a priority to pick up, and easier to pick up when you get around to it.

Thanks! You’re right, that is a better way to do it.

The automatic egg collector aka the Critter Sensor sounds really good. I'll have to give it a go. Looking forward to seeing how you work the plumbing for the better toilets. Another interesting episode. Thank you.

@@engineertroy_ I'm currently not being as successful as you, Have done the research and have started to set up the room but I have no ranchers. I am considering starting again and choosing my dupes more carefully! I'm going to wait to watch your next episode before making any decisions though :)

Starting over is part of the learning process. I probably started over a dozen times before I passed 100 cycles!

Can I offer a suggestion regarding the timer sensor and the cycle sensor and also point out the lullaby buff lasts for a full cycle so when you use a cycle sensor there will be cycles when the dupe will not be able to reach the incubator in time before it turns off but you can better control this using a timer sensor. Let me explain. So with cycle sensor lets say its off for 75secs but it takes the dupe 25secs to reach it then the buff is applied which lasts for a full cycle, when the cycle sensor turns the machine on again the buff still is active for another 25secs so no errand is created until the end of those 25secs, so the machine has been on for 25secs the errand is then created it takes another 25secs fur dupe to arrive so now we are upto 50secs so with the next cycle the dupe will run to incubator will start hugging but the machine shits down and now the egg will not be lullabied so with this example 1/3 of the time the egg will not be lullabied. With a timer sensor you set it off for 600secs a full cycle and turn it on for 30secs to give time for dupe to arrive and complete the animation then the machine will turn off for the full cycle in which the lullaby will be active then turn on after and it will repeat over just adjust the on time as the base gets bigger and the commute time increases. Help this is useful but enjoying the content

Oh, that’s a really good point. I’ve seen that setup before but I didn’t fully understand why until now. Mind blown. Now I feel a little embarrassed for getting it wrong. Thanks for the correction!

your most welcome thanks for the content and keeping the game going its an older game now but much loved I would love to be in your the colony. btw love the engineered ranches cool twist to the standard design adding that automation which i have never seen before I would love to give that a try in one of my colonys wonder if it would work for slicksters i usually have tons of them or does the floating mechanic effect them in some way @@engineertroy_

Will do. I plan on getting back to the Let's Play that started last month soon but work and personal life has been keeping me busy. I'll put you on the dupe name list. Don't let me forget! I don't know for sure about the slicksters. I'm hoping to work with them more soon.

great call out. I came to check this was already discussed. The point for the timer sensor is easy to miss, and when you think about it really calls into question why is there a cycle sensor? It seems to add only confusion without benefit. Troy, your videos are fantastic, and the carnivore / early ranch design breakdown is especially excellent and well-explained.

Hey there - I've just started watching through these and note that you talk about researching and building a Rock Crusher, but I can't find any point where you say why, or what you're actually using it for. Could you point me to where you do, or if that didn't make the video, explain it?

Using to make refined metal such as copper and gold early game though I should note it is not the most efficient way and I recommend using the refinery when you’re ready for that. 😊

I just did not get the settings on the drop off thingy and the critter feeder, can you share some light ?

Critter drop off was set to 8 hatches(maximum in a ranch without being crowded) and I put sandstone in the feeders since I had a bunch. Hope that helps!
