One time, in the earlier days of the internet, I read a post on a forum from a woman requesting on behalf of her mother if someone could take a picture at a cemetery 7,000 miles from their home. This 94-year-old lady's older brother was killed as a soldier in World War II. I read the post and thought, sure, I could go do that. I e-mailed the photo to her and she wrote back that her mother cried for half an hour after viewing it. Apparently, all her life she never knew that her brother's name was remembered on a memorial

What a blessing the photo must have been to that elderly woman & her family. A precious keepsake. The world has plenty of unsung hero's, too bad we don't see as many of them as we do the negative stuff. I'm sure that's a great memory for you as well.

The fiver story reminded me of when I paid for a mother's groceries. I was waiting in line to pay and this woman with two small kids was in front of me. She had a toddler and probably a 4-month-old with her. Her card kept getting rejected and she starts to cry. She was pretty much just trying to buy stuff for her kids, formula, and that kind of thing. I reached over and gave the cashier the $30 to pay for the items. She wanted my address so she could send me a check but I told her it was alright and not to worry about it. She seemed really stressed and just needed a helping hand.

I was on the receiving end once. I went to the store one day to get something to eat and didn't have quite enough money to get everything. Some lady behind me paid for everything for me.

The fiver story made me think of when I was in high school trying to buy groceries and I didnt have enough, I started tearing up and out of nowhere a woman in her 40s came up behind me and paid for all of it. She just hugged me and said "god bless, sweetie" and walked away. I stood there in front of the cashier for like 5 more mins trying to figure out what just happened. Another "act of kindness" that always stuck with me growing up was when I was real little and got my ears pierced for the first time I was like petrified and no matter what my dad and older brother did I wouldnt calm down and again out of nowhere this group of black women, like 6-7, surrounded me and gave me the best like encouragement I've ever received. They were all cheering me on the whole time and applauded when I got them done. I've never forgotten them and the fabulous gigantic earrings they wore.

Once, my mother was so distraught over losing a $100 bill. My father tried to comfort her by saying exactly what Daz said "just know you’ve made someone very happy today" Few days later she finds out it was my Dad that swiped it from her lol! He came clean once he realized how upset she was with herself for losing the bill.

Some of these were just emotional events, not acts of kindness. Could even be the opposite of kind when you do it in front of a bunch of people. I'd hate that so much. Also most not random at all. Kids locked in for weeks, would be bloody heaven for me.

Like you, I often get choked up when I watch videos of dogs’ reactions to their soldier “dad” coming home after a tour of duty. One of the funniest clips I’ve seen, however, is one taken of the reaction of a returning soldier’s cat. The soldier walks into the house, and his cat just stares at him. 🤣

I have two family members in the NBA. It’s extremely tiring to pose for pictures. You love kids and you fake smile but it’s hard. People don’t realize it’s just teenagers on the court. Now people are throwing popcorn at kids. That’s why Westbrook gets annoyed. We are raised to be athletes but it’s tough. My dad trained for the Olympics. And Carl Lewis got sick that year, he was heartbroken. America is that if you’re good at sports.

Everyone should try to help or bring joy to others if it doesn't put you out anyway. World would be better place if we cared for strangers like family. Some deserve it some don't but normally easy to spot ones who do. My parents taught me to help everyone that needs it.

I worked briefly for Tottenham Hotspur in the souvenir shops. Erik Thorstvedt, the then keeper, would spend half the day in the main shop talking and signing autographs. Brilliant bloke. Gary Mabbutt, the captain was also in there a hell of a lot. Now, "Mr. Nice", Gary Lineker, frankly, was an arsewipe and not worth the time of day.

I'm sure there might be one, but I've yet to see a Professional Minnesota athlete shun a kid for a high five, autograph, etc. I haven't been to Vikings game yet, but when my brother asked for an autograph (to raise hospital funds for my other bro) he was given the autograph and talk to some dude, who gave him 6 VIP tickets to a game of choice and a ton of memoribilia! That's goimg the extra mile for a stranger approaching a Pro during their downtime.

7:39 I don't even think that's an act of selflessness tbh. If anything, it's more like an act of self indulgence. I know if I won $300m, I'd do the same as a hobby. It feels amazing to give. Not downplaying what he's doing; just saying I'd do the same simply because it makes ME feel good.
