Someone suggested me to buy an old vintage ball off eBay. So I did.
I picked up a used Brunswick Black Diamond.. But I ran into a little problem…
So I had to do a little hostile takeover 🤨

I’ve been using my dads old retired Columbia 300 reaction ricochet thing is a beast. He also has a plastic Columbia 300 he bought when he was 19 that he uses as his spare ball. It’s insane. Love the content

Black Diamond is good Brunswick Rubber Ball. I loved bowling rubber balls.

It’s legendary for sure, arguably bested by only one other Brunswick rubber ball: the LT-48, especially the Johnny Petraglia signature edition. I’m hoping I can get one pretty soon to add to my vintage arsenal, as I currently have my ‘dream’ polyester ball (a 1976 Columbia Yellow Dot) and my ‘dream’ urethane ball (a 1985 AMF Black Angle). Of course, an old St. Louis-issue Faball Blue Hammer would be nice, as would a late ‘90s original Zone…

I had a Black Diamond when I got my second ball. First one as a 12 year old was a Black Beauty. That messenger with the Black Diamond was epic!

I just picked up a Brunswich Fireball which Brunswich said was from 1955. I drilled it out at home and hope to try it out soon. $5 at garage sale.

Gotta do 3 games in your videos. Want to see if you improve or if the conditions make these weird balls impossible. Easy to speed up the recording. Gotta challenge for you. No step. Behind the approach. That old ball would probably be your best bet. Lol. Had a 227 high game trying that a few times

@@220avg used to bowl 10-20 games a day. Always wished I worked at the lanes and could experiment like this. With the drilling and the practice spares. 10 pin always got me, and my thumb got destroyed for a few years. Super glue wouldn't hold. Just rip off the blood blister. Even with 4 different pro shops experimenting with the thumb hole. Gave up 5 years ago

@@iceman5117 Depends on the urethane. My old school Sumo black hooks about as much as my orange dot. An LT-48 can out hook it but not a black diamond. Modern urethane is a crazy animal that can soften

The ball won't hook because there is less surface for traction. When a hole hits a pin it magnifies the rebound effect. Like hitting a baseball with a corked bat.

I just bought off eBay an ACE 12lb.... I had to start smaller my old 16 by ACE is too much right now...again I'm getting all my enthusiasm back from watching your Vids...and also the sounds...awesome work...straight up!!!

I agree you should bowl more games 1 game is way to quick and then when it's over I find myself going really that's it 1 game. I love the longer videos with 3 games.

I've ordered a Brunswick Black Beauty just for fun, is there any truth to the older rubber balls having trouble in the ball return? I figure the machinery at my local spot has been there since 1960 so it should be able to cope with a ball of the same era. Also, I have no idea if it's going to even fit my hand. That could be a big problem, but hoping for the best.

I just watched your video. Earlier today I pulled out my Black Beauty 16 lb ball to see if it still if me. Had it redrilled with thumb slug and fingertip with grips. Fits great. Thought about taking it with me for making spares instead of my Black Out Mix. It struck me funny that you were bowling with the Black Diamond today. Nice going though. Not much deflection when entering the pocket. Good job...

My Dad who is 70 years old and not bowled in 20 years has done nothing but talk about how op the black diamond was and also the original LT-48 ( Petraglia made famous).i believe the diamond is the hardest ball ever made.it def looked like it hit hard. Very enjoyable vid .

My first best all time game and strike string was done with rubber. Had the back 9 for 259 and the first in the next game for 10 in a row. The giants of Bowling's past did it all with rubber. No help from the ball, just all bowler.

It would be cool if you started a series of buying classic reactive balls. Like start with Brunswick balls like Red Alert Zone, Speed Demon Zone, Danger Zone, Inferno and so forth.

Take a durometer to that thing. Black diamonds might be over 90 while a Custom LTD like mine might be more like 75 lol

@@220avg In the early days of bowling 2 hole balls were common. The ones I've seen had really big holes. I'm thinking they may have put two fingers in one hole.
